<br />
<br /> An appropriation of $75. to put in a ~atch basin and Pipe line at the corner of Fourth smd
<br />Wythe streets.
<br /> It is recommended that a special appropriation to said amount be allowed for the pur-
<br />pose.
<br />
<br /> To make available $36. allowed in the Budget for six Dmreotories; and a special appropria-
<br />tion of $6. to pay for another Directory which has been delivered.
<br /> It is recommended that sm apprQpri'ation of $36. be made available and that a special
<br />appropriation of $6. be made, as requested.
<br />
<br /> An appropriation to,lay an ~rinoh main, instead Of 4-inch main, on the corner of Third and
<br />Wythe streets, out of general funds for the Sewerage Department.
<br /> It is recommended that an appropriation of $35- be allowed for same, out of funds in
<br />the Sewerage Department.
<br />
<br />Reports of Officers for the month of June, 1916.
<br /> We report thmt we have examined said reports and it is recommended that they be filed.
<br />
<br /> An Order of Court relieving and discharging from lien of taxes the lot of land fronting on
<br />the east side of Fourth street and running back between ~aral!el lines 90 feet, adjoining the
<br />property of Frank J. Winn, for the years 1906-15, inclusxve.
<br /> It is recommended that said 0~der of Court be executed.
<br />
<br /> A notice from the Clerk of the ~ou~t of Humtings that judgment has been rendered in favor
<br />of the Jewel Tea Co. against the City to amount of $28.75, with interest from January 31, 1916,
<br />and $6.~2 plaintiff's costs.
<br /> It is recommended that said judgment be paid.
<br />
<br />A request of the Treasurer to borrow $~,000. for Schools for July and August.
<br /> It is recommended that said amount be.allowed, out of. appropriation to Schools.
<br />
<br /> (With Light Committee) A petition of the Seventh ~ard Board to have made available the
<br />$100. allowed in the Budget for "Lights," to take care ~f fe_u~.'fights in Prentis Park.
<br /> It is recommended that said petition be granted, the appropriation for same to come
<br />out of appropriation in the Budget for~Seventh Wmrd "Lights."
<br />
<br /> A petition of Mrs. J. L. Murden to be p~id $30. for rent of house used by the Sanitary In-
<br />spector for storage of disinfectants and apparatus, from January 1 to June 30, 1916.
<br /> It is recommended that Mrs. Murden be paid said amount and that the Public Property
<br />& Schools Committee provide elsewhere for storage in the future.

<br /> (With Street Committee) An appropriation of about $600. to remedy the drainage between
<br />the Sixth and Seventh Wards and by the property of the Portsmouth Coal & Ice Co.
<br /> It ie recommended tha~ am appropriation of $600. be allowed for same; one-fourth to
<br />be paid by the~sixth Ward, one-zourth by the Seventh Ward, and one-half by the City; the City
<br />to be ~bsequentl~ re-imbursed by the Portsmouth Coal & Ice Company and Wm. G. Maupln; to amoun~
<br />of_o~ fourth or $150. each.

<br /> A report 'of the Auditor ~f the following bills held up by.him, because they exceeded 1/12
<br />of the' approp=iation for s~e. General Administration, $31.~5, Elections, $t~0.00.
<br /> It is recommended that a special appropriation of $31.7~ be allowed to pay General
<br />Administration bills and a special appropriation of $175. be allowed to pay Election bills.
