February 8, 1916~ On motion, the report~of the Committee was adopted, the recommvnde~ approprimtion of $2,450. for purchase of the Guthrie Property being referred to the Finance Committee. Gentlemen:-- Your Light Committee respect- fully reports herein co,corning the following matters referred to the Join~ Li~at Committee January l~-lSth, 19i6, ~-ud December 14-~Sth, t~lS: ~efe=red by Common Council Jmnu~ry t4th~ A communication f~om the Seventh Ward Bo~rd calling mttention of the Council to unsatis- factory llEhting service in the Seventh .Ward~ fie have been informed that the lighting service has been poor of late in both the Sixth and Seventh Wards, a~.d we have instructed the Clerk to write to the Virginia Railway & Power Co. calling attention to this service and asking for m r~medy for the same at once. Referred by two branches Jauua:y 14-1Eth~ (~ith Finance Committee) Instructed to have a light placed on the ~est Pa~k View Bridge. This matter is being attended to by the Committee. Referred by Board of Aldermen December ~ appropriation of ~350- for purchmsing,a Testing Machine for City lights, recommended by the Finance Committee mn the Budget of i~15, under ~"Electrical Department." It is recommended thmt mn approprimtion to s~id ~mount be mllowed for such Testing Machine. Referred by Common Council December l~th~ A petition of the Board of Police Commissioners ~or a~ arc light on Water, street opposite the entramce to the Norfolk County ~e=ries, to be lighted f~om sundown to midnight. It is recommended that a ~00.candle~ power Eaz~ i~ght~b~ so pieced, to be lighted for.~the same time as lights of the "~h~te ~my," a~d ~t ~e~ of~$~'~er year.
