<br /> Mrm,JJohn Lindsay spoke briefly explaining the object in being present and she was fol-
<br />lowed by Mrs. H. Aspegrin, who read ~ resolution adopted by said League concerning "moving pic-
<br />ture shows" and the evll effects of some of them on children. Also aa ordinance was proposed
<br />by the League to regulate the same.

<br /> The Chairman made a statement about a petition of citizens dn Effingham street in

<br />report.

<br /> He presented also the following resolution for his Department:
<br /> "Be it Resolved by the
<br />City Council that the recommendation of the City Nanager that one of the present Justices of
<br />the Pe~ce be made Clerk of the Civil & Police Court, and also Cle~ to the Chief of Police, be
<br />approved by the Council and that the Manager be authorized, (as he is already by the Act creat-
<br />ing hie office), to make the chauge as suggested in his recommendation."

<br /> The Chairma~ of the Department of Finance moved to defer action on same, until the
<br /> report of said Department is re~d, as it has a recommendation bearing on this matter.

<br /> Then Nr. Norris moved to amend, by adding, thmt the appointment be optional with
<br /> the Eanager for trial of ~ixty d~ys.
<br /> The amendment w~s adopted, and then the resolution, ~s amended, wasadopted, and
