<br />awarded to the low bidder, Mi E. Wilkins, Inc., and requests an
<br />appropriation in the ~unount of $110,000 from the Public Utility
<br />Capital Improvements Fund.

<br /> I concur with the Director of Public Works and, with your
<br />approval of this item, the balance in the Public utility
<br />Capital Improvements Fund will be $874,065."

<br />Utility Capital Improvements Fund to relocate approximately
<br />1,400 linear feet of water main in PortCentre,
<br />
<br /> Motion by Mr. Clemons, and seconded by Mr. Robinett, to
<br />adopt the following ordinance, and was adopted by the following
<br />vote:

<br /> "AN OP, DINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $110,000.00 FROM THE PUBLIC
<br />UTILITIES CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS FUND, TO RELOCATE A WATER MAIN

<br />94-488 Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of an
<br />ordinance to repeal Chapter 20, Section 20-12 (b) of the Code
<br />of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia pertaining to licensesl
<br />
<br /> "The Commissioner of the Revenue is requesting an
<br />amendment to certain ordinances of Chapter 20 of the Code of
<br />the City of Portsmouth, Virginia (1988), pertaining to licenses
<br />which will change the City's business license due dates, back
<br />to the way they were prior to June of 1994. This amendment
<br />will help prevent loss of revenue from license fees.
<br />
<br /> It is believed that the up-coming General Assembly Session
<br /> will address business, professional and occupation license
<br /> (BPOL) for these taxes, and that we should wait to see what
<br /> transpires.
<br />
<br /> Therefore, I concur with the Commissioner of the ReVenue
<br /> and recommend your approval of this item."
