Va., Ju~ 17th, 1~°i7· "I would request of the Council that the amount of $603.00, which h~s been collected so far this year on account of fees for the c~re of the tots in the cemetery, be m~de avail- able at once for the purpose of paying for the labor in connection with this care, as the ap- propriation made in the Budget for this purpose has been es~austed. I would at this time ad- vise the Council that the fee prescribed in the ordin~uce is not enough to pay the cost of oaring for the lots.and that if the cemetery is to be kept in the dondition which it should, that there will have to be an additional appropriation made ~or labor before the end of the year. "I would advise the Council that ~ome of the brickwork ~t the Armory is in very bad ~naPe, that some of it has fallen out and that a portion of the Brownstone coping has ~isintegrated; a la~ge part of the brickwor~ is in need o~ repointing$ The roof of the building~leaks in a couple of places. I have ~aeavored to gem estimates f the cost o~ ~meJ~lng the r~quired re- pairs, but all of the people in that line of work claim that they are so busy that they do not care to estimate at this time. As I have reversal times given instructions to the heads of dep~rtments regarding purchases mhd they have not been ~llowed in this case, I would liee to oal~ the attention of the Council to the bill and request instruction ms to its payment. Claud, the advisability of m~king an additional appropriation of $850. for "Cemeteries" was referred to the Finance Department. No action was taken on the condition of the brickwork at the Armory. The City Eanager read bids received by him for the horses in the Fire Depmrtment, but stated that they were t'oo low mhd reoommended that same be rejected.
