JanUary 10,~ 1995 "A RESOLUTION ENDORSING THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH'S PARTICIPATION INA PROGRAM UNDER THE INTER-MODAL SURFACE TP~%NSPORTATION ENHANCEMENT ACT FOR SIGNAGE AND INTERPRETIVE PROGRAMS FOR CERTAIN CIVIL WAR SITES IN PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA. WHEREAS, the Inter-Modal Surface TransportatiOn Enhancement Act provides funds to States for various projects, and that the Virginia ~epartment of TranspOrtation has received such funds for a program and enhancement project; and WHEREAS, in accordance with the Commonwealth' s Transportation Board Construction AlloCation Procedures, it is necessary that a request by resolution be made in order that a Virginia Department of Transportation Program and Enhancement Project be established in the City of Portsmouth; virginia; and WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, desires to increase tourism by participating~in such a Program; and WHEREAS, the total Cost for planning and design, right-of-way and construction of this project for the three Portsmouth sites will be Thirty Thousand and 00/100 ($30,000.00) Dollars~ with a twenty (20%) percent cash match required of the City should the grant be awarded to the City. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that a request is made to the Commonwealth Transportation Board to establish a project for the improvement or establishment of Virginia's Civil War Trails within the City of Portsmouth, Virginia." Ayes: Clemons, Griffin, Hawks, Martin, Pitts, Robinett, Webb Nays: None 95-19 - Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of a resolution to convey the following parcels in Block 21019: Parcels 151, 152, 155, 160 and 174 to the PortsmoUth Redevelopment and Housing Authority. "The attached resolution addresses conveyance of property to the Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority (PRHA). The subject property is located in PortCentre Commerce Park. The conveyance to PRHA will facilitate the development of this site. I, therefore, recommend your adoption of the attached resolution to' convey this property to PRHA." Motion by Mr. Clemons, and seconded by Mr, Robinett, adopt the following resolution, and was adopted by the following vote: to "A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO CONVEY SEVERAL PARCELS OF LAND IN SOUTHSIDE TO THE PORTSMOUTH REDEVELOPMENT AND HOUSING AUTHORITY. WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth is the owner of several parcels of land in that area of the City known as Southside, which said parcels are no longer necessary to any municipal purpose; and WHEREAS, PortsmOUth Redevelopment and Housing Authority (PRHA), is desirous of acquiring said parcels for use for community development purposes.
