February 7, 1995 <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, there is a necessity for the City and Portsmouth <br />Parkside Development Associates to enter into such deed(s) as <br />may be necessary to complete the adjustment of such boundary <br />line, so that each is the fee simple owner of its property. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE iT RESOLVED by the Council of the City <br />of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the City Manager be, and he <br />hereby is authorized to enter into such deed(s) as he may deem <br />necessary and appropriate to convey unto Portsmouth Parkside <br />Development Associates any interest which the City may have in <br />the property of Portsmouth Parkside Development Associates <br />known as parcel 29A1 on the plat entitled "Subdivision of <br />Property, Parcels 28(A), 28(B) and 28(C), Plat Showing Survey <br />of Disposition Parcels 28(A), 28(B) and 28(C), Crawford Urban <br />Renewal Project VA-R-53", Portsmouth, VA, dated January 12, <br />1988, which said plat is duly recorded in the Clerk's Office of <br />the City of Portsmouth~ Virginia, in Map Book 14, at page 181, <br />under such terms and such conditions as he shall deem to be in <br />the best interest(s) of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia. <br /> <br /> That this resolution shall take effect on the date of its <br />adoption." <br /> <br />Ayes: Griffin, Hawks, Martin, Pitts,~Webb <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />95-57 Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of a <br />motion authorizing the City Manager to enter into a contract <br />with J. S. Baar, Ltd., and Rountree Construction Company, Inc., <br />for the Sleepy Hole Golf Course, Sleepy Hole Park, and the <br />Obici House. <br /> <br /> "I am pleased to announce that negotiations for Sleepy <br />Hole Golf Course, Sleepy Hole Park, and the Obici House have <br />been finalized with J. S. Baar, Ltd., and Rountree Construction <br />Company, Inc. The contract is for an initial term of ten <br />years, with two option periods of five years each. More <br />· mportantly, the City will realize a positive revenue stream <br />throughout the term of the contract, significant capital <br />~mprovements which will enhance the value of City property, <br />discount opportunities for our citizens, plus the contractual <br />assurances of the continued use and compliance of a public <br />facility. <br /> <br /> I hereby recommend your approval of a motion authorizing <br />me to enter into a contract with J. S. Baar, Ltd., and Rountree <br />Construction Company, Inc., for the Sleepy Hole Golf Course, <br />Sleepy Hole Park, and the Obici House." <br /> <br />1. Dr. James W. Elizabeth Cajiao, 4646 Rivershore Road, spoke of concerns <br />for the role of the Obici House Board and the condition of the <br />house. <br /> <br /> <br />
