O22 <br /> <br />February 28, 1995 <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Clemons, and seconded by Mr. Martin, <br />adopt the following resolution, and was adopted by the <br />following vote: <br /> <br />to <br /> <br /> "A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THAT THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF <br />TRAi~SPORTATION ESTABLISH AN URBAN HIGHWAY PROJECT TO IMPROVE <br />TYRE NECK ROAD FROM THE CITY'S SOUTHEP~N LIMITS ON SAME TO WEST <br />NORFOLK ROAD. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in accordance with Virginia Department of <br />Transportation construction allocation procedures, it is <br />necessary that a request by Council resolution be made in order <br />that the Department program an urban highway project in the <br />City of Portsmouth; and the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, deems same to be in the City's best interest. <br /> <br /> THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, requests the Virginia Department of <br />Transportation to establish a project for the improvement of <br />Tyre Neck Road from the City's Southern limits on same to West <br />Norfolk Road as a two-lane road with appropriate turn lanes, as <br />required, a distance of approximately 0.4 miles. " <br /> <br />Ayes: Clemons, Griffin, Hawks, Martin, Pitts, Robinett, Webb <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Clemons, and seconded by Mr. Griffin, <br />adopt the following resolution, and was adopted by the <br />following vote: <br /> <br />to <br /> <br /> "A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THAT THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF <br />TRANSPORTATION ESTABLISH AN URBAN HIGHWAY PROJECT TO IMPROVE <br />WEST NORFOLK ROAD FROM CHURCHLAND BOULEVARD TO CEDAR LANE. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in accordance with Virginia Department of <br />Transportation construction allocation procedures, it Ks <br />necessary that a request by Council resolution be made in order <br />that the Department program an urban highway project in the <br />City of Portsmouth; and the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, deems same to be in the City's best interest. <br /> <br /> THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, requests the Virginia Department of <br />Transportation to establish a project for the improvement of <br />West Norfolk Road from Churchland Boulevard to Cedar Lane as a <br />two-lane road, a distance of approximately 1.3 miles." <br /> <br />Ayes: Clemons, Griffin, Hawks, Martin, Pitts, Robinett, Webb <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Pitts, <br />the following resolution, <br />vote: <br /> <br />and seconded by Mr. Clemons, to adopt <br />and was adopted by the following <br /> <br /> "A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THAT THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF <br />TRAI~SPORTATION ESTABLISH AN URBAN HIGHWAY PROJECT TO RELOCATE <br />FREDERICK BOULEVARD BETWEEN TURNPIKE ROAD AND HIGH STREET AND <br />TO CONSTRUCT OTHER RELATED PROJECTS. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in accordance with Virginia Department of <br />Transportation construction allocation procedures, it is <br />necessary that a request by Council resolution be made in order <br />that the Department program an urban highway project in the <br />City of Portsmouth; and the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, deems same to be in the City's best interest. <br /> <br /> <br />
