O22 February 28, 1995 Motion by Mr. Clemons, and seconded by Mr. Martin, adopt the following resolution, and was adopted by the following vote: to "A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THAT THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF TRAi~SPORTATION ESTABLISH AN URBAN HIGHWAY PROJECT TO IMPROVE TYRE NECK ROAD FROM THE CITY'S SOUTHEP~N LIMITS ON SAME TO WEST NORFOLK ROAD. WHEREAS, in accordance with Virginia Department of Transportation construction allocation procedures, it is necessary that a request by Council resolution be made in order that the Department program an urban highway project in the City of Portsmouth; and the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, deems same to be in the City's best interest. THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, requests the Virginia Department of Transportation to establish a project for the improvement of Tyre Neck Road from the City's Southern limits on same to West Norfolk Road as a two-lane road with appropriate turn lanes, as required, a distance of approximately 0.4 miles. " Ayes: Clemons, Griffin, Hawks, Martin, Pitts, Robinett, Webb Nays: None Motion by Mr. Clemons, and seconded by Mr. Griffin, adopt the following resolution, and was adopted by the following vote: to "A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THAT THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION ESTABLISH AN URBAN HIGHWAY PROJECT TO IMPROVE WEST NORFOLK ROAD FROM CHURCHLAND BOULEVARD TO CEDAR LANE. WHEREAS, in accordance with Virginia Department of Transportation construction allocation procedures, it Ks necessary that a request by Council resolution be made in order that the Department program an urban highway project in the City of Portsmouth; and the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, deems same to be in the City's best interest. THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, requests the Virginia Department of Transportation to establish a project for the improvement of West Norfolk Road from Churchland Boulevard to Cedar Lane as a two-lane road, a distance of approximately 1.3 miles." Ayes: Clemons, Griffin, Hawks, Martin, Pitts, Robinett, Webb Nays: None Motion by Mr. Pitts, the following resolution, vote: and seconded by Mr. Clemons, to adopt and was adopted by the following "A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THAT THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF TRAI~SPORTATION ESTABLISH AN URBAN HIGHWAY PROJECT TO RELOCATE FREDERICK BOULEVARD BETWEEN TURNPIKE ROAD AND HIGH STREET AND TO CONSTRUCT OTHER RELATED PROJECTS. WHEREAS, in accordance with Virginia Department of Transportation construction allocation procedures, it is necessary that a request by Council resolution be made in order that the Department program an urban highway project in the City of Portsmouth; and the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, deems same to be in the City's best interest.
