<br /> AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 176 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE, CHAPTER
<br />TWELVE. (See Ordinance Book).

<br /> Whereupon, Mr. Brooks and Mr. White asked permission to withdr~w the amendments offered
<br />by them at the last meeting, and the permission was granted°
<br />
<br /> Then Mr. H~ll moved that an emergency clause be added to the ordinance and that it be
<br />adopted.
<br /> Mr. White moved to amend that the CommiSsioner of the R~v~nue be paid a salary of $I,000.O0,
<br />instead of $600.00, as at present.

<br /> AN DRDINANCE PROVIDING LICENSE FEES, RULES AND REGULATIONS
<br />FOR THE OPERATION OF "JITNEYS~ IN THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH. ~See Ordinance Book}.

<br /> Whereupon, Mr. Esleeck moved that the priyilege of the floor be granted to mny one presemm
<br />who desired ~o be heard. The motion was adopted.
<br /> Messrs. R. Triplett and C, E. Hodges, attorneys for some of the jitney owners, opposed
<br />placing any bond on $itneys. Mr. J. H. Wilson and Mr. McPherson and others spoke in opposition
<br />to passage of the ordinance.

<br /> Then Mr. White moved that the
<br />Manager, be adopted:
<br /> "Article l, Section (e), first line be amended to read: The annual license
<br />fee or tax for the privilege of operating jitney busses shall be that prescribed from time to
<br />time in the License Ordinance for the City of Portsmouth.
<br />
<br /> "Article ~1., Section (l), add to the end of the paragraph, the words: 'plus one.'
