<br /> When space in a building is rented or let for the s~orage of or in which a,ve s~ored,
<br />automobiles or vehicles and a charge is made for such renting or letting, and the said space
<br />so let and ren~ed, ~nd the said mutomobile or vehicle so storedis under the care and custody
<br />of the lessee of the said space rented, there shall he a flat tax of $1.00 and $2.50 for
<br />each st~ll, provided, however, that each stall shall be considered as space only for one
<br />machine.

<br />27. GAS COmPANiES
<br />
<br /> Each person, firm or corporation who shall engage in the business of supplying g~s
<br />through pipes or mains, one-half of one per cent from g~oss receipts from sale of said gas.
<br />
<br /> However, this provision shall not be considered as annulling, or interfering with, or
<br />preventing any contract~ franchise, or agreement by ordinance between ~he City of Portsmouth
<br />and the Portsmouth Gas Company-as to compensation for rights and privileges in the s~reets
<br />and alleys in the said City used for the purpose of pipes and mains in furnishing the City
<br />and the inhabitants thereof with Gas.

<br />28. HORSE SHOEING
<br />
<br /> Each person or firm carrying on the business of shoeing horses, a flat tax of $11.O0,
<br />-and $3.00 for each anvil used over the first one.

<br /> Each person, firm or corporation conducting a place known as a "looker room or house"
<br />shall pay a flat t~x of $1.OO and twelve and one-half cents for each looker.
