071 <br /> <br /> March28, 1995 <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, i~ is believed that a designation of portions of <br />Interstates 64 and 664 as the "Hampton Roads Beltway" would <br />serve to further unite, promote and identify the area of <br />metropolitan Hampton Roads; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, such unification and identification would greatly <br />enhance the opportunity of each of the cities of metropolitan <br />Hampton Roads to promote then{selves and the area. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City <br />of Portsmouth, Virginia, that it does hereby call upon the <br />Commonwealth Transportation Board to designate as the "Hsanpton <br />Roads Beltway" those portions of Interstates 64 and 664 from <br />their point of intersection on the Peninsula in the City of <br />Hampton, Virginia, to their point of intersection at Bower's <br />Hill in the City of Chesapeake, Virginia. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk shall forward a <br />true and certified copy of this resolution to the Commonwealth <br />Transportation Board for its immediate consideration.'' <br /> <br />Ayes: Clemons, Griffin, Hawks, Martin, Pitts, Robinett, Webb <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />95-152 - Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of <br />two resolutions pertaining to King's Crossing. <br /> <br />a. A resolution authorizing the City Manager to release <br />drainage easements as may be necessary in the area adjacent to <br />the King's Crossing site. <br /> <br />b. A resolution authorizing the City Manager to convey Parcel <br />61 F, or a portion thereof, to the Portsmouth Redevelopment and <br />HouSing Authority for development purposes. <br /> <br /> "Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority is <br />negotiating with a developer for the King's Crossing site. As a <br />result of these negotiations, the City will need to convey the <br />parcel of land between the building and the Seawall. <br /> <br /> . ~n addition, the city has drainage easements between the <br />building and the Seawall which may ~mpede Completion of this <br />project. Authority to release an~ or ~11 of these easements as <br />may be required, and as may be appropriate; is needed. <br /> ! <br /> I, theref?re, ~ecommend ~dop~ion of the attached <br />resolutions which w~ll authorize ~he City Man~ger to convey all <br />or a portion of property to the east of the K~ng'S Crossing site <br />to Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority and to grant <br />the authority to release such easements as may be required <br />toward the completion of this project." <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Clemons,~ and seconded by Mr. Griffin, to <br />adopt the following resolution, and was adopted by the following <br />vote: <br /> <br /> "A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZINGTHE CITY MANAGER TO RELEASE <br />DRAINAGE EASEMENTS AS MAY BE NECESSARY IN THE AREA ADJACENT TO <br />THE KING'S CROSSING SITE. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, there appear to be drainage easements in the <br />King's Crossing site which could interfere with the potential <br />completion and development of the project; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is deemed essential that the City Manager have <br />the authority to release these easements, or a portion thereof, <br />in order to facilitate completion of the project as he may deem <br />appropriate and proper. <br /> <br /> <br />
