In <br />order for the City Code to be consistent, I am requesting that <br />the Code be amended to reflect that the Christmas Eve holiday <br />will begin at 1:00 p.m. and that only full-time regular <br />employees are eligible for paid holidays. <br /> <br /> I recommend your adoption of the proposed revision to the <br />City Code." <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Pitts, and seconded by Mr. Hawks, to adopt <br />the following ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br /> "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 2 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF <br />PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA {1988) BY AMENDING SECTIONS 2-111 (A) (9) <br />AND (B) THEREOF, PERTAINING TO LEGAL HOLIDAYS." <br /> <br />Ayes: Clemons, Griffin, Hawks~ Martin, Pitts, Robinett, Webb <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />95-149 - Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of <br />an ordinance to amend Section 22-395(a) pertaining to reckless <br />driving. <br /> <br /> "It is necessary to amend the City Code of the City of <br />Portsmouth dealing with reckless driving and penalties in order <br />to conform our code provisions with State law. <br /> <br /> I, therefore, recommend adoption of this ordinance to sanend <br />the City Code in accordance with State law." <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Martin, and seconded by Mr. Griffin, to adopt <br />the following ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br /> "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 22 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY <br />OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA (1988) BY AMENDING THEREOF SECTION <br />22-395 (A), PERTAINING TO RECKLESS DRIVING," <br /> <br />Ayes: Clemons, Griffin, Hawks, Martin, Pitts, Robinett, Webb <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />95-150 - Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of a <br />resolution expressing the gratitude of the City of Portsmouth <br />Virginia to A. J. "Junie" and Millie Lancaster for their <br />generous donation of the collection that is known as the <br />"Lancaster Train and Old Toy Museum" to the Children's Museum of <br />Virginia. <br /> <br /> "As you are aware, A. J. "Junie" Lancaster and Millie <br />Lancaster, his wife, recently announced the gift of their model <br />train and antique toy collection to the Portsmouth Museum <br />Foundation, Inc. This collection has been brought together over <br />many years, and is regarded as one of the finest to be found in <br />the United States. It will be placed in the Children's Museum <br />of Virginia, where it will serve not only as a reminder of our <br />past history, but as a reminder to future generations of a life <br />long tradition of devotion and service to community and fellow <br />citizens. <br /> <br /> <br />
