Mar~h ~8, 199S Construction Contract (Old Dominion Demolition) 067 Stadium Demolition Alternate No. 2 (ROadway Demolition) Additional Roadway Demolition Contract Administration and Inspection $ 47,800.00 $ 7,272.50 $ 38,927.50 $ 6,000.00 TOTAL ANTICIPATED PROJECT COST $100,000.00 In addition to the Stadium demolition, this contract includes demolition of a portion of the abutting streets. Because of the very favorable bid prices received, demolition of all streets and sidewalks under the proposed Norcom High School will also be accomplished in this contract. The additional demolition will require approval to exceed the 25% limit on change orders to the contractor. The Sleepy Hole facility lease begins on April 1, 1995, and the Portsmouth Stadium is scheduled for demolition on or around the ss-me date. The Department of Parks and Recreation, therefore, has requested that the City Code be amended as it relates to the Sleepy Hole facility and the Portsmouth Stadium. The recommendation is that all code references to fees and policies relating to these facilities be repealed effective April 1, 1995. The Director of Public Works recommends that a construction contract be awarded to Old Dominion Demolition and requests approval to exceed the 25% limit on change orders. Sufficient funds are available from previous appropriations; therefore, no appropriation is required for this work. The Director of Leisure Services recommends your approval to repeal the references to fees and policies related to the Sleepy Hole and Frank D. Lawrence Stadium facilities. I concur with these four recommendations and request your approval of this item." Motion by Mr. Pitts, and seconded by Mr. Clemons, to award a demolition contract for the Frank D. Lawrence Stadiem to Old Dominion Demolition, and was adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Clemons, Hawks, Martin, Pitts, Robinett, Webb Nays: Griffin Motion by Mr. Robinett, and seconded by Mr. Martin, to exceed the 25% limit on change orders for the demolition of Frank D. Lawrence Stadium, and was adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Clemons, Hawks, Martin, Pitts, Robinett, Webb Nays: Griffin Motion Mr. Martin, and seconded by Mr. Clemons, to adopt the following ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: "A/~ ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 25 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA (1988) BY AMENDING SECTIONS 25-93 AND 25-148 AND BY REPEALING SECTIONS 25-92, 25-110 AND 25-175 THROUGH 25-181 THEREOF, PERTAINING TO PARKS AND RECREATION." Ayes: Clemons, Hawks, Martin, Pitts, Robinett, Webb Nays: Griffin 95-147 Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of an ordinance to aanend Chapter 22 of the City Code by amending Section 22-239 and by enacting a new Section 22-508 pertaining to truck traffic and a one-way street.
