"Gentlemen:--
! am informed under date of June 2~th by Mrs. M. B. Hollad~y, owner of pro-
perry on the northwest corner of Carroll & Dale Sts., which it will be necessary for the City
to acquire in order to open Washington St., that she' will~now ~ccept $4,000. for this property,
if she is permitted to remove, the buildings and~given reaso~ble time to teary them down s~nd
get them out of tbs way.

I was au~horizedby the Council to offer $3000 for this proper~y and if
~hat sum were not accepted to begin condemnation proceedings. I believe that the condemna-
tion proceedings will result in a cost of at least $~,000. to the City and it will then have
the expense of tearing down the buildings, with of course credit for whatever materialmay be
eold.~ I believe, therefore, that the offer of $~,000. should be accepted. The owner states
that she has had several offers of $4,250.00.
