<br />from the Council November l~th, was read and on motion of Mr. Esleeck, placed on Its first
<br />reading:
<br /> An Ordinance Authorizing the Issuance of Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Dollars
<br />($250,000.00) 'Bonds of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, for the Purpose of Building a~d
<br />Equipping Public 'School Buildings in said City; Making Provision for Form of said Bonds; and
<br />for the P~yment Therefor. (Mr. Brooks voting No).

<br /> A bill of John C. Niemeyer, Commissioner of the Revenue, to amount of $8,657.08, as com-
<br />missions on $785,?0~o32 taxes, was referred to the Finance Committee.

<br /> The MayOr presented communications from %he Auditor of 'Public Accounts, enclosing checks
<br />from the Treasurer of Virginia to amounts of $120.~0 and $3,137.92, in payment of th$ portion
<br />of Capitation Tax~urned delinquent and Cmpitation Tax paid during 1921, respectively; and
<br />stated that said ohe~ks had been ~eposited with the City Collector.
