Beasley <br /> <br /> This reduction will bring the award to $30,000, the price fixed by your honorabl~ <br />body, and is made on the condition that the City relinquish to the respective owners all <br />claim to the buildings now upon the land in question. <br /> <br />"Respectfully, <br /> <br />~. Wilkins." <br /> <br />The following is the resolution recommended by the Massager: <br /> <br />"WHEREAS, The owners of the land necessary for the opening of Hatton. Stre et into High, <br /> <br />have agreed to consent zoa reduction of the appraisal of. the condemnation commissioners, to <br /> <br />bring the price to the City to. $30,000. for the land; and <br /> <br /> ,WHEREAS, This brings the price within the appropriation heretofore made by the Council- <br /> <br /> "NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESgLVED, That the City Attorney be, and he is hereby,instructed <br />to file immediate exoeptions~o the report of said Commissioners, and to bring up the said <br /> <br />exoeptlons before the Court as soon as may be." <br /> <br />Mr. Esleeok mo~ed that resolution recommended by the Mansger be ad~pte& <br /> <br /> Mr~ White raised the point of order that this question can not be considered, under <br />the rules, for three months. Communication stating that the Director of Public Welfare recommends that the $.25 <br />oha~ge for sealing each measure prescribed by ,Section 6 of the Ordinance oreatin~ theoffioe <br />~f ~ealer of Weights and Measures for the City of Portsmouth, be o~itt~ <br /> The,Mmnager concu~s in this opinion mud recommended that Section 6 of this Orddnance be <br />repealed. An emergency existing, this mm~ment shall take effect from its passage." <br /> <br />On motion of Mr. Esleeok, the recommendation was' placed on its first reading. <br /> <br /> 5th. Communication stating "the sale and transfer of jitney licenses is being much abused. <br />Certain men a~e speculating in these licenses amd they ame t ~ferr. ed f~equently~ at <br />largely mdvamced prices. As 10no as this transfer is rechaction <br />in ~he ~ber of jitneys ~d in ~y opinion it is impossible for jitneys which <br />we h~ve now on the streets to m~e ~ legitimate living.
