White, ?~ <br /> Also the City Manager. <br /> <br /> The minutes of the regular meeting December 13th and special meeting December 20th were <br />read and were approved. <br /> <br /> REPORTS OF COMMITTEES <br /> Finance-- <br /> Referred December !3th <br /> <br /> Bills of the City Sergeant, submitted by the City Manager, for board and commitment fees <br />of prisoners convicted under City Ordinances for November, 1921, amounting to $25?.50, of <br />which $33.50 i~for committal fees. <br /> It <br /> is recommended that a special appropriation of $257.50 be allowed to pay said <br />bilXs. <br /> <br /> Plans submitted by <br />to be built under sidewalk at <br />cost-of which is $5,000.00. <br /> P~og~ess as to same. <br /> <br /> Authorized to offer for sale and have preps~red <br /> We have already acted on thi~ matte~. <br /> <br />the northwest corner of High and Court streets, <br /> <br />the Manager for a public comfort station for white men and white women <br /> the estimated <br /> <br />$250,000.00 School Bonds. <br /> <br />Reports of the City Clerk & Auditor and City Collector for the month of November, <br />We have examined these reponts and it is recommended that they be filed. <br /> <br />Referred November'~ind <br /> <br /> A petition of <br />taxes for the Year 1920. <br /> Ir'is recommended that <br /> <br />C. Submitted copy of <br />of report of the State P~mrd of Charities and Corrections on the Portsmouth City Home. He <br />stated that he has ihstruoted the Director of Public Welfare to better conditions temporarily <br />as far as is possible and to also submit pla~s for the permanent improvement of the Home. He <br />has written to t~e City ~nager of Norfolk and the Board of Supervisors of Norfolk County <br />asking for a conference, looking to the possible consolidation of work of this kind, as recom- <br />mended by-said.Board. .~ <br /> On motion, the communication was ordered to be filed. <br /> <br />2nd. <br /> #December SO, 1921 <br /> <br />spective owners all <br /> <br />that it adopt the inclosed resolution, directing the City <br />to the report of the condemnation commissioners. <br /> <br /> eHonorable City Council, PortsmOuth, Va. <br /> <br /> "Gentlemen:-- <br /> I am inclosing herewith a letter signed by the property owners and heirs <br /> to property necessary'to open Hatton St. to a width of fifty five feet, agreeing to reduce <br /> the~cost of' the necessary property in an amount of $2550.00. This reduction will bring the <br /> award to $30,000 for a fifty-five foot street, which is the price imforma~lly fixed by the <br />'Council. <br /> <br /> This reduction is made on condition that the City relinquish to the <br /> claim to buildings now upon the land in question. <br /> <br /> ~n case the Council agrees to accept this proposition, it is recommended <br /> Attorney to file immediate exceptions <br /> <br />"Yours truly, <br /> <br />"J.
