With your approval of this <br />item, the balance in the Public Utilities Capital Improvements <br />Fund will be $22,531,022." <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Martin, and seconded by Mr. Pitts, to adopt <br />the following ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br /> "AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $86,725.00 FROM THE PUBLIC <br />UTILITIES CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS FUND FOR THE ROUTINE PURCHASE OF <br />HEAVY CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT FOR USE IN THE MAINTENANCE OF THE <br />CITY'S UTILITY SYSTEM." <br /> <br />Ayes: Clamons, Griffin, Hawks, Martin, Pitts, Robinett, Webb <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />- CITY MANAGER'S REPORT - <br /> <br />95-174 - Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of <br />an ordinance to appropriate $282,000 from the Capital <br />Improvements Fund for removal of asbestos at 711 Crawford <br />Street, and a motion awarding the contract to the iow bidder. <br /> <br /> a. Ordinance to appropriate $282,000 from the Capital <br />Improvements Fund for removal of asbestos from the second floor <br />of the Police Headquarters building. <br /> <br /> b. Motion to award a construction contract to the low <br />bidder, ACS Environmental. <br /> <br /> "A third courtroom is required for the General District <br />Court on the second floor of 711 Crawford Street. Demolition of <br />the existing partitions, asbestos removal, and reconstruction of <br />the new courtroom are included in this project. Funds for <br />asbestos removal have been included in the 1994-95 CIP for this <br />purpose. <br /> <br /> Bids were received on March 30, 1995 for the removal of <br />asbestos in the building. The bids were competitive and <br />favorable with today's construction market (see Attachment No. <br />1). The total anticipated project costs are calculated as <br />follows: <br /> <br />Construction Contract (ACS Environmental) <br />Fireproofing (Design and Inspection) <br />Elevator Repairs <br />Contract Administration and Inspection <br />Contingencies <br /> <br />$232,524 <br />$ 7,920 <br />$ 3,000 <br />$ 18,000 <br />$ 20,556 <br /> <br />TOTAL ANTICIPATED PROJECT COST <br /> <br />$282,000 <br /> <br /> The Director of Public Works recOmmends that a contract be <br />awarded to the iow bidder, ACS Environmental, in the amount of <br />$232,524 and that $282,000 be appropriated to complete this <br />work. <br /> <br /> I concur with the Director of Public Works and with your <br />approval of this item the balance in the Capital Improvements <br />Fund will be $17,111,074." <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Clemons, and seconded by Mr. Griffin, to <br />adopt the following ordinance, and was adopted by the following <br />vote: <br /> <br /> <br />
