<br /> c~ve=ing the coal bin at Godwin-St., said bin being used by the City in connection~with the God-
<br /> win ~t. Pumping Station and whick'the Manager believes is undoubtedly om land owned by the S. A.
<br /> L. Ry. and recommending that s&ld lease be signed.
<br /> It is recommendedtthat the proper Officers be authorized to sign' said lease on be-
<br /> half of the City.

<br /> In connection with the recommendation of' the Manager that a special appropriation of
<br /> $525.35 for pistols, &c,, in connection with the employment' of substitute policemen rendered _
<br /> necessary by the strike of the Va. Ry. & Power Co., Mr. Brooks stated he is opposed to ~pe~
<br /> diture of any money for work done before provision is made for payment by the Council~
<br /> Mr. Brooks,~.~m~lrman of the Traction Committee, stated that his Committee had had several
<br /> conferences ~ith the Officials of the Va. Ry. & Power Co. and that the items.discussed in said
<br /> conferences had been put in writing and submitted tO the Va.R~.'& Power Co. over three weeks
<br /> ago~, and that~ the Committee is waiting on a rep~Eti~om the said ~¢ompan~ beforemaking a
<br /> report ~o the Council.

<br /> the matter relative to a joint'office building ~d the Board had a appo:

<br /> Whereupon, Mr. Brooks moved.to concur i~ the recommendation. The motion was adopted,
<br /> and the Chair appointed Messrs. White, Smith, and Oast on said Committee.

<br />at the City Home.

<br />that Judge Thomas's ~equest is a reasonable one and.recommended thatit
<br />time as the City can provide offices of its own.
