<br />· This is a reimbursable grant with the local match being provided through in-kind
<br />services. The City must provide an in-kind match valuing $32,500.

<br /> Motion by Mr. Whitehurst, and seconded by Ms. Randall, to adopt the following
<br />ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote:

<br />"ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $64,223 IN THE GRANTS FUND FOR THE
<br />FRIENDS OF THE JUVENILE COURT AND THE BIG BROTHERS/BIG SISTERS
<br />JUVENILE MENTORING PROGRAM."

<br />02 - 212 - Adoption of a resolution changing the regularly scheduled City Council
<br />Meeting of Tuesday, July 23, 2002 to Tuesday, July 30, 2002; and changing the
<br />regularly scheduled City Council Meeting of October 22, 2002 to October 29, 2002.

<br />Recommendation:
<br />
<br />· Adoption of a resolution changing the regularly scheduled City Council Meetings of
<br />Tuesday, July 23, 2002 to Tuesday, July 30, 2002; and changing the regularly
<br />scheduled City Council Meeting of October 22, 2002 to October 29, 2002.
<br />
<br />Purpose and Need:
<br />
<br />· A concert scheduled for Tuesday, July 23, 2002, at the nTelos Pavilion at Harbor
<br />Center is expected to draw several thousand people to the downtown area.
<br />
<br />· The 2002 Virginia Municipal League Conference is scheduled for October 20 - 22,
<br />2002 in Norfolk, Virginia. Several members of City Council plan to attend.
<br />
<br />· Two proposed changes in the schedule of regular City Council meetings are
<br />recommended. Since there are five Tuesdays in the months of July and October, it is
<br />convenient to change the meeting nights for City Council from the fourth Tuesday
<br />nights to the fifth Tuesday nights.

<br />resolution, and was adopted by the following vote:

<br />"A RESOLUTION RESCHEDULING THE REGULARLY-SCHEDULED CITY
<br />COUNCIL MEETINGS OF JULY 23, 2002 AND OCTOBER 22, 2002.
<br />
<br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that its
<br />regularly-scheduled meeting of July 23, 2002, be rescheduled to July 30, 2002, and that
<br />its regularly-scheduled meeting of October 22, 2002 be rescheduled to October 29,
<br />2002.
<br />
<br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the time and location of the meetings remain
<br />as originally scheduled."
