May 14, 2002 <br /> <br />Ayes: Benn, Griffin, Moody, Pitts, Robinett, Whitehurst, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />02 - 147 - Adoption of an ordinance to approve a supplemental appropriation for funds <br />to be received by the Circuit Court Clerk from the State Compensation Board's <br />Technology Trust Fund in the amount of $175,000. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />· Adoption of an ordinance to approve a supplemental appropriation for funds to be <br />received by the Circuit Court Clerk from the State Compensation Board's Technology <br />Trust Fund in the amount of $175,000. <br /> <br />Purpose and Need: <br /> <br />· The Compensation Board has approved funding for the Circuit Court Clerks that <br />must be expended by June 30, 2002. <br /> <br />· Each Circuit Court Clerk in the State may apply for funding from the trust fund for <br />land records automation and technology improvements, as outlined in their land records <br />automation plan, for any one or more of the following: <br /> <br />· obtaining office automation and information technology equipment, including <br />software and conversion services; <br /> <br />· preserving, maintaining and enhancing court records, including, but not limited to, <br />the cost of repairs, maintenance, service contracts and service upgrades which may <br />include, but not necessarily be limited to, a digital imaging system; <br /> <br />· improving public access to court records; <br /> <br />· equipment and services to convert paper, microfilm or similar documents to a digital <br />image format; <br /> <br />· the conversion of information into a format which will accommodate remote access; <br /> <br />· the law and chancery division of the office. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br /> <br />· There is no financial impact as the additional appropriation will be fully funded by the <br />State. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Whitehurst, and seconded by Mr. Benn, to adopt the following <br />ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />"AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $175,000 IN THE GENERAL FUND FOR <br />LAND RECORDS AUTOMATION AND TECHNOLOGY IMPROVEMENTS IN THE <br />OFFICE OF THE CLERK OF THE PORTSMOUTH CIRCUIT COURT." <br /> <br />Ayes: Benn, Griffin, Moody, Pitts, Robinett, Whitehurst, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />02 - 148 - Adoption of a resolution authorizing the City to join the Virginia Energy <br />Purchasing Governmental Association for the purpose of negotiating energy services. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />· Adoption of a resolution authorizing the City to join the Virginia Energy Purchasing <br />Governmental Association for the purpose of negotiating energy services. <br /> <br /> <br />
