1.06' <br /> <br />ADril 25~ 1995 <br /> <br /> "AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $40,000.00 FROM THE CAPITAL <br />IMPROVEMENTS FUND FOR THE REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT OF HEATING AND <br />AIR CONDITIONING COMPONENTS FOR THE CHILDREN'S MUSEUM OF <br />VIRGINIA AND THE DEPARTMENT OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY." <br /> <br />Ayes: Clemons, Griffin, Hawks, Martin, Pitts, Robinett, Webh <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Martin, and seconded by Mr. Clemons, to <br />award the contract to Damuth Trane Company to replace the air <br />conditioning system in the Children's Museum of Virginia and <br />the Data Processing section of the Department of Information <br />Technology, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Clemons, Griffin, Hawks, Martin, Pitts, Robinett, Webb <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />95-211 Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of <br />an ordinance to appropriate $25,000 for the City's share of the <br />Churchland Boulevard highway project being completed by the <br />Virginia Department of Transportation, and adoption of a <br />resolution to convey a portion of a parcel of property on <br />Churchland Boulevard to the Commonwealth of Virginia for the <br />widening of Churchland Boulevard. <br /> <br /> a. Ordinance to appropriate $25,000 for the City's share <br />of the highway project which will Widen Churchland Boulevard <br />from two lanes to four lanes, with a center turn lane. <br /> <br /> b. Resolution to convey a portion of a parcel of property <br />on Churchland Boulevard to the Commonwealth of Virginia for the <br />widening of Churchland Boulevard. <br /> <br /> "Funds are included in prior authorizations in the 1994-98 <br />Capital Improvement Plan for the City of Portsmouth's share of <br />improvements to Churchland Boulevard which is to be completed <br />by the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT). The <br />Director of Public Works recommends an appropriation in the <br />amount of $25,000 to proceed with this project. <br /> <br /> Additionally, VDOT has expressed the need to acquire a <br />portion of property currently owned by the Churchland Shopping <br />Center Associates, for the purpose of widening Churchland <br />Boulevard. By previous agreement of Churchland Shopping Center <br />Associates, the Virginia Department of Transportation and the <br />City of Portsmouth, the property needed for this project is to <br />be acquired by the City of Portsmouth and is to be conveyed to <br />the Commonwealth of Virginia. <br /> <br /> With your approval of an appropriation of $25,000 for the <br />City's share of this project, and for the purchase of the <br />portion of the needed property, the balance in the Capital <br />Improvements Fund will be $15,467,054. I also 'recommend <br />adoption of this resolution authorizing the City Manager to <br />convey the property needed for widening Churchland Boulevard in <br />the area of the Churchland Shopping Center to the Commonwealth <br />of Virginia." <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Clemons, and seconded by Mr. Robinett, to <br />adopt the following ordinance, and was adopted by the following <br />vote: <br /> <br /> "AN OP~DINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $25,000.00 FROM THE CAPITAL <br />IMPROVEMENTS FUND FOR IMPROVEMENTS TO CHURCHLAND BOULEVARD AND <br />FOR ACQUISITION OF RIGHT-OF-WAY THERETO." <br /> <br />Ayes: Clemons, Griffin, Hawks, Martin, Pitts, Rohinett, Webb <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> <br />
