Webb, Vice Mayor Johnny M. Clemons, Bernard <br />D. Griffin, Sr., James C. Hawks, James T. Martin, Cameron C. <br />Pitts, P. Ward Robinett, Jr., V. Wayne Orton, City Manager, <br />George M. Willson, Acting City Attorney. <br /> <br /> Reverend T. J. Twitty, Faith Fellowship Community Church, <br />opened the meeting with prayer which was followed by the Pledge <br />of Allegiance to the Flag. <br /> <br /> Mayor Webb called the meeting to order and welcomed all in <br />attendance. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Robinett, and seconded by Mr. Clemons, to <br />approve the minutes of a called meeting on April 10, 1995; a <br />Regular Meeting on April 10, 1995; a Called Meeting on April 11, <br />1995; and a Called Meeting on April 18, 1995, and was adopted <br />by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />95-197 - Presentation of a "Hero Medal of Honor" to Angelo L. <br />Davis. <br /> <br />95-198 Proclamation presented to Thomas Stith, President, <br />Optimist Club, for "Respect for Law Week". <br /> <br />95-199 Proclamation presented to Martin Bullock, President, <br />Portsmouth Bar Association, for "Law Day U.S.A". <br /> <br />95-200 Proclamation presented to Jacqueline Mackey, <br />Victim-Witness Director and Martin Bullock, Commonwealth's <br />Attorney for "National Crime Victims Rights Week". <br /> <br />95-201 - Proclamation presented to Willie Wilder, The Exalted <br />Ruler of the BPOE Lodge ~82, for "National Youth Week". <br /> <br />95-202 - Proclamation presented to Lawrence Blow, III, Chairman, <br />Youth Advisory Co~=~ission, for "National Youth Service Day". <br /> <br />95-203 - Proclamation presented to, Mrs. Bryon Eberly for "Arbor <br />Day". <br /> <br />95-204 - Proclamation presented to Sonya Carr and Major Tripp <br />Ritchie for "Special Olympics Day". <br /> <br />95-205 - Proclamation presented to Mrs. June LeCkrone, <br />Portsmouth Music Club, for "National Music Week',. <br /> <br />95-206 - Non-Agenda Speakers <br /> <br />1. Randi Strutton, 4704 Rivershore Road, spoke on the <br />preservation of wooded area surrounding the borrow pit on Twin <br />Pines Road. <br /> <br />2. Madalyn Morris-~rimes, 108 Florida Avenue, thanked Council <br />and staff for their assistance with the Port Norfolk Trash Bash. <br /> <br />3. Louis Whitehead, 4415 County Street, complimented the New Day <br />Office Furnishings for appearance of their building. <br /> <br />4. John W. Hill, 2906 Mapleton Avenue, transmitted a letter to <br />the City Manager and Mayor from the NAACP. <br /> <br />5. Charlie Riddick, 718 Henry Street, spoke on EPA and the ABEX <br />SuperfUnd site. <br /> <br /> <br />
