<br /> Mr. Esleeok moved that the ordinance be amended to read "An emergency ex~Sting, this or-

<br /> The S~nendment was adopted.

<br /> Mr. Brooks moved that the words "Ten Dollars and Fifth Cents, in the ordinance be struck
<br /> out, making the ordinar~e read "One Thousand Dollars" and "Four Thousand Dolla~s.,

<br /> Mr. ~Smith offered the ~followin~ amendment, but withdrew same: "This ordinance shall not
<br />apply to the 8th and 9th Wards, until after bonds h~ve been sold and money ~expended, as set
<br />forth in the Annexation Ordinance.,

<br /> Mr. Brooks moved that the ordinance be referred to the City Manage~ for further considera-
<br />tion. Mr. Esleeck moved that ~. Brooke's motion be amended by adding ~ the follow$ing:

<br /> In connection with the application of Mr. P~rry L. Alexander fo~ permission to install
<br />10,O00 gallon gasoline tank on his land adjoining the S. A. L, tracks on Court street, which
<br />was laid on the table until this meeting of Council, Mr. ~hite moved that the following ordi-
<br />nance which was placed on its first reading by Council February l~th, be taken up and rea~:

<br /> An Ordinance Authorizing and Regulating the Construction of Tanks for the Storage of
<br />Gasoline, Kerosene, Oils and other Volatile and Inflsm~nable Liquids within the City Limits of
<br />the City of Portsmouth.
<br />
<br /> The motion was adopted, and Mr. White moved that the following amendments recommended
<br />by the Manager, be adopted:
<br />
<br /> "To add after the second sentence of the third paragraph the following: ~suoh supports
<br />shall hmve a height sufficient to give ~ clear head room of seven feet under bottoms of tanks.'
<br />
<br /> "To add the following to paragraph $5~ 'Beginning t~irty d&ys after notice from the
<br />City Manager that any structure is in violation of law, every day in which such violation
<br />is allowed to continue, shall constitute a separate offense.'
<br />
