<br /> 1. That Article 1, section 1, be amended to include ~mong the routes the following
<br />streets, namely, Fourth Street from Lincoln Street to Key Avenue, Key Avenue from Third to'
<br />F~arth Street, Third Street from Key Avenue to Lincoln Street.

<br /> 2. That Article 11, section 2, be amended to read as follows; to-wit:
<br /> "Section 2. Grantee shall purchase ~nd acquire from Virginia Railway and Power Oom-
<br />pam~y all the franchises, rights and privileges to operate a street railway system in the City
<br />~f Portsmouth, Virginia, heretofore acquired by it and its predecessors under private as well
<br />as public authority, ~nd shall succeed to a~d be substituted for the Virginia Railway add
<br />Power 0ompany and its predecessors as to any and all of the rights, privileges and franchises,
<br />~nd conditions, limitati~ons, covenants and restrictions granted to and imposed upon said Vir-
<br />ginia Railway and Power Company ~.nd its predecessors, and grantee shall purchase or lease or
<br />otherwise acquire the use of all the property of said Virginia Railway and Power Company
<br />exclusively for street railway purposes in the City of Portsmouth, and the following terms and
<br />conditions shall be applicable to the franchises heretofore granted to Virginia R~ilway and
<br />Power Company and its predecessors, any terms, conditions, limitations, restrictions or pro-
<br />visions in any or all of said franchises under which the Virginia Railway and Power Company
<br />now operates to the contrary nevertheless and notwithstanding. Any and'all the terms, con-
<br />ditione, limitations, restrictions and provisions contained in any and all franchises hereto-
<br />f~re granted to the Virginia Railway and Power Company and any and all of its predecessors
<br />which are in conflict with the terms, conditions, limitations, restrictions and provisions
<br />hereinafter enumerated are hereby expressly amended, modified, changed and abrogated to the
<br />extent of such conflict and the terms, conditions, limitations, restrictions and provisions
<br />of this ordinance shall govern and apply to operations under all prior franchises; but where
<br />all valid terms of said prior franchise are not so moaified th~same shall remain in force and
<br />effect and shall be assumed and performed by grantee."

<br /> 3- That Article 11, section 3, clause (o), be ~mended to read as follows:
<br /> u(c) Such portions of the Cross Town Bin, south of High Street as amc not needed
<br />for some otb, r 'line or lines, namely, the tracks o~ H~ison, Fifth, Henry and Fayette Streets,
<br />and Third Street from Lincoln to Henry Street. Such abandonment shall not become effective
<br />until the improved service over the Navy Yard Line has been inaugurated, and pending the estab-
<br />lishment of such improved service the present Navy Yard Line ky be temporarily abandoned
<br />and a ten minute schedule naintained over the following route: From Crawford Street along
<br />High, Court, South, WaShington, Harrison, Fifth, Fay, tie, Third, Henry, Fifth, Harrison, Wash-
<br />ington, South, Middle, County and Back to Cr~-.wford Street."

<br /> "(d) The tracks on Lincoln Street from Efflngham Street to Fourth Street, and on Lin-
<br /> ooln Street between Third and First streets, an~ on First Street from Lincoln.~Street to near
<br /> Wythe Street. Provided, however, unmil service can be est~bt.ished along Washington Street
<br /> from H~rrison to Lincoln Streets, the tracks on Lincoln, Fift~ or Harrison Street-s may be used
<br /> for the 0raddook and Gilmerton Lines, therein~fter provided for, along such r~te as the City
<br /> M~nager of said Grantor m~y designate."

<br /> ~. That Article iV, section 1, clause (d), be amended to read as follows:

<br /> "(d) Soottsville Line: Starting on Crawford Street at loop~and continuing to High
<br /> Street, to Sixth Avenue, to Glasgow Street, and returning by same route ~0 loop. After bridges
<br /> morose branches Of Scott's Creek and Atlaatio Comet Line R&ilroad have been constructed, the
<br /> right of way secured by grantor, then the grantee at the request 'of the City agrees to extend
<br /> the Soottsville Line through Shes' s Farm one-half mile, more or Ieee; to co,.fin, ct with the
<br /> present line on Hill Avenue and operate on Hill Avenue to Carolina, to Spencer, to Pinner, to
<br /> Serpell, to Carolina, returning by same route. When the extension has been made and placed
<br /> in operation grantee shall discontinue the operation of c~rs passing through Port Norfolk ~into
<br /> Pinners Point and shall route the Port Norfolk oars on Mt. Vernon Avenue to Bay View Boulevard,
<br /> to 0hatauqua, to Third, to Mt. Vernon Avenue, and is hereby authorized and directed so to

<br /> 6. That Article 1.V, section 1, be amended by adding a new clause, to be designated (i)
<br /> and to read as follows:
<br />
<br /> "(i) Navy Yard Line: Starting on Crawford Street, at loop, ~nd continuing to High,
<br /> to Court, to W~the, to Fourth, to Key AVenue, to Third, to Lincoln, to Fourth,' to Nythe, to
<br /> Court, to South, ~o ~tlddle, to County, to Crawford,at loop. For this line the construction
<br /> of a diamond turn-out on Co,,-rt Street in the vicinity of Clifford Street is ~uthorizedo"
<br /> and that section 2 of Article iV be amended by adding a new clause to be desigr~ted as (i) and
<br /> to remd as follows:

<br /> e(i) Navy Yard Line: Fi~e minutes;"

<br />and to .~nge the present designation of clause (i) to (J),
<br />
<br /> 7- ThatArtiele IV, section 5, be amended to read as follows:
<br /> - "Section 5- The provisions of existing frs~nchises of the Virginia Railway and Power
<br />0ompany ~nd its prede0essors or any general ordinance or ordinances requiring both a mo~orm~n
<br />and conductor on the oa~s, ~re hereby abrogated and'repealed. Provided, that if in ~he opinion
<br />of the Grantor, two men are necessary on c~rs on any lines of the Grantee, the ssme may, by
<br />ordinance, be required of the Grantee."
