<br /> 8th. "~. L. F. Savage has requested that the City pave the space between the existi~
<br />sidewalk and his store at the Northwest corner of Fourth and ~dison Streets. This projec~
<br />will involve the laying of 34 sq. yds. of p~vement.

<br /> As there is an existing ~vement sufficient for general traffic, I ~ of the
<br />oplnio~ that if Er. Savage will pay for thre~fo~mrths of this work, the 0ity will be j~stif~ed
<br />in pay~ug for the remainder. I, therefore, recommend that I be authorized to advise Ms. Savage
<br />to this effect, if he agrees to it, no appropriation will be necessary for the City, as I
<br />can,h~udle the City's share from the appropriation for repair of sidewalks°"

<br />9th. "The Council has previously authorized me to offer the United States $48~17~.22 as
<br />~cg~mpro~is~. settlement for the interest due the United States on account of imorovements made
<br /> y ~aem ~o mae Water Department. A reaudit by the Government bringing the audi% up to Dece~oer
<br />31st, 1923, which I believe we should accept, indicates now that the amount due the Government,
<br />assuming the gross eaznings at the time their contract ~s made to have been $358,616.20, is

<br /> It is recommended that I be authorized to substitute this sumouut for the amount
<br />previously authorized."

<br /> 10th. "I am ~nclosing blue print~showing in red the land which it will be necessary ~o
<br />purchase in order to widen Washington Street to lO0~ as far as Lincoln Street.

<br /> Oneof these plats embracing forty-five thousandths of an acre at the corner of
<br />He~y Street and Washington Street is offered by Mr. E. L. Price either for $300 or in ex-
<br />ch~uge for the portion of Brighton East of Washington, which is a dead end and useless for
<br />street pu~poses~ I recommend that he be paid $300 for the tract in question or that ~n ex-
<br />change be effected on oaymentbyhim to the O~tv of ~00 as the Brighton Street tract is
<br />about twice tnearea of the trac~ at Henry & Washington Streets.

<br /> The second tract belongs to Mrs. H. F. Pl~&mber and~mbraoes eighty-nine one thousand-
<br />ths of an acre at the corner of Lincoln'& Washington Streets. It is offered to the Oity at
<br />$500. It is recommended that this proposition be accepted."

<br />On motion, the recommendation was referred to the Finance Committee and Oity Attorney.
