152 <br /> <br />june 13; 1995 <br /> <br /> At a Regular Meeting of the City Council held on Tuesday, <br />June 13, 1995, there were present: <br /> <br /> Mayor Gloria O. Webb, Vice Mayor Johnny M. Clemons, <br />Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., James C. Hawks, James T. Martin, <br />Cameron C. Pitts, P. Ward Hoblnettl Jr., H. Timothy Little, <br />Deputy City Manager, George M. Willson, Acting City Attorney. <br /> <br /> Councilman Cameron C. Pitts opened the~meeting with prayer <br />which was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. <br /> <br /> Mayor Webb called the meeting to order and welcomed all in <br />attendance. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Hawks, and seconded by Mr. Pitts, to approve <br />the minutes of a Called Meeting on May 22, 1995; a Called <br />Meeting on May 23, 1995; a Regular Meeting on May 23, 1995; a <br />Called Meeting on May 30, 1995; a Called Meeting on June 5, <br />1995; a Called Meeting on June 6, 1995; and a Called Meeting on <br />June 7, 1995, and was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />95-274 - Proclamation presented to Kathy Prendergast for <br />"United Cerebral Palsy of Southeastern Virginia Casual Day". <br /> <br />95-275 - Non-Agenda Speakers <br /> <br />1. John Hill, 2906 Mapleton AvenUe, Norfolk, spoke on minority <br />hiring and promotions. <br /> <br />2. Helen Person, 1314 Green Street, spoke on her attendance at <br />City Council meetings. <br /> <br />3. Lloyd Beazley, 3186 Reese Drive, spoke on the pay and <br />classification plan. <br /> <br />4. Ronnie McMillan, 303 Mohican Drive, spoke on the new <br />Showcase on Airline Blvd, <br /> <br />5. Reggie Allen, 1421 Wilcox Avenue, thanked the Waste <br />Management Department for their assistance with the <br />Brighton/Prentis Park neighborhood clean up. <br /> <br />- Unfinished Business - <br /> <br />95-222 - Rezoning: <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Pitts, and seconded by Mr. Robinett, to <br />adopt the following ordinance, approved on first reading at the <br />Public Hearing on May 23, 1995, and was adopted by the <br />following vote: <br /> <br />"ZONING AMENDMENT ORDINANCE Z-95'07". <br /> <br />Ayes: Clemons, Griffin, Hawks, Martin, Pitts, Robinett, Webb <br />Nays: None ~ <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER'S REPORT - <br /> <br />95-276 Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of <br />an ordinance to appropriate $676,415 from the Public Utilities <br />Capital Improvements Fund for the new monitoring and control <br />system for the water treatment plant~ and a motion to award the <br />construction contract to S-L Controls, Incorporated. <br /> <br /> <br />
