On motion, the communications were ordered to be filed. ?th. ~0n June 3rd the West Park View bridge was damage~ By a fire, the origin of which seems probably to have been due to the throwing of a lighted match or cigarette into the ~aw- dust surroundi~ the water main crossimg ~he bridge. The enti~e structure is. in such shape tha~ it doesnot seem to ~ustify repairs. ! am therefore r~commendi_ng that it be closed to traffic except for foot passengers, and that the street sweepings fromP~.ark View a~West ~ark View be dumped from the old Bridge until the approaches are filledUP leaving only a narrow cha~el to be bridged sometime in the ~uture. Xn order that au additioz~zl entrance ~o West Park View may be provided, X am further recommending that First Ave. be paved with aueSgl~.teen foot bi~mminous m~cadamSaving from ~L~ckie St. to High St. at an estimated cost of $15,000.00." On motion, the recommendation was referred to Finance Oommlttee. Sth~ "l am forwarding herewith request from the D..~ender Grocery Co. to lease for two yea~s at $25.00 per month the premises owned by the City at the northwestcorner cZ Washi~n~_~on ~d County Streets. The Oompany will make all necessary repairs to the building. Zt is r~ commended that it be accepted."
