LeDoyen, <br /> <br /> UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br /> <br /> The following communication was read from the City Attorney: <br /> <br /> "Portsmouth, Va., September 13, <br />H~norable City Ooun~il, <br />Portsmouth, Va. <br /> <br />Gentlemen: <br /> <br /> On August 3rd, 1~27, one of the City's trucks connected with the street repair work <br />cmme in contact with a m~n n~med Charlie Driver, who was riding a motorcycle, at the corner of <br />Green and Queen Streets. The truck had been going north on Green Street, and turned to the <br />left into Queen Street, the driver cutting the corner and evidently tried to get by before the <br />motorcycle, which was going south.on Green Street reached the corner. The dmiver of the truck <br />was arrested for reckless driving and acknowledged that he was a.~ faul~ in cutting the corner <br />~nd attempting to head off the driver of the mozorcyole. Oharlie Driver w~s b~dly-hurt, his <br />clothes were torn to pieces, and he w6s still unable mo work a few days ago. He agreed with me <br />on Augus~ 2~th to accept Two Hundred Dollars in full of his damages, provided the City would <br />furnishhim further medical attenmion. Since that time Dr. Phillips, the City Physician, has <br />been atmending him.
