On motion of Nm. Stewart, the appropriation was laid on the table until the next regular
meeting of oounoil.
3rd. "I respectfully recommend that Elm Ave. from Hig~ to South St. be widened wit? inte-
gral curves. The pavement is now 18 ft. wide ~ud will reoumre 6 ft. on either side which will
make it 30 ft. wide, also to change the High Bt. radius, at mu approximate cost of $6,655.00.
There is a balance inthe Street Improvement Bond Fund of $10,127.82 and I recommend
that the amount be taken from this fund, which is available.~
On motion, the appropriation was laid on the table until the next r~gmlar meeting of
0ouncil.
4th. '"I respectfully recommend that the parked a~ea on Washington St. between High and
County ets; be p~ved with asphalt with concrete base. In recommending this, it is necessary
that drainage be considered in order to take care of the additional burden put on the present
drain by the run-off from the large roof areas of the buildings in that vicinity ~ud possible
new buildings.which no doubt .will be e~ected in the future, which'will make stomm conditions
worse on Washington St. at King, High ~ud ~ueen Sts., du~ing extraordinary rains.
It will ~herefore be necessary that an appropriation of $15,000.00 be made to take
care of these drains~e-conditioms a~also~to pave the parked area. This c~mu~er has been in
b~d shape for a good many.years and I beli~ve-~he work should be done at this time. The present
30" terra' ootta pipedrain extends from High and Washington to thecreek north of Hampton Place.
it is proposed to construct an ~dditional concrete pipe from a point north of High St. to the
creek north of Hampton Place. The total length of this new drain will be approximately 1~O0 ft.
It will be c~oss-connected with the present drain at several points with 36" pipe. Six manholes
and the necessary catch basins will have to.be constructed in connection with this project. The
proposed drain Will be constructed in the grass-plots, therefore eliminating the necessity of
cutting up either the existing sidewalks or the existing pavements except at the intersections
with cross streets. T~ere is a balance of $39,395.96 in the New Sewerage Fund. I see no reason
why this appropriation should not come from this fund."
the s~pprop~iation was lald on the table until the next regular meeting of
