April 23, ~2~ At a regular meeting.of the City Oounci'l held April 23rd there were present: Messrs-- Vernon Brooks, J. C~ Dunford, E. ~. Maupin, Jr., Arthur Mayo, J. ~ldenoast, Archibald Ogg, $. R. Stewart, ?. Also the City Manager. The minutes of the regular meeting April 9th were read and were approved. The following communications were read from the 0ity Manager: 1st. "There will be due on ~ay 31st, 1929, at the National ~ity Baak of New York, ~$75,000.OOin notes and interest at 4 3/~% amounting to $3,562.50. These notes were sold to W. O. Gay & Company and proceeds used to liquidate the $75,000. debt on the fer~es. The ferries will have'$25,O00, on principal of these notes~ togetherwith $3,562.50 in- terest which will make it necessary to re-issue $50,000. of these notes for one year. I respectfully submit the attached ordinance covering issue of $50,000. notes."- An Ordinance Authorizing the Borrowing of Fifty Thousand Dollar~, in Anticipation of the Collection of the Revenue of 1930, and Providing for the Issuance~of a Note or Notes Therefor. On motion of Mr. Stewart, the ordinance was placed on first reading. 2nd. "The contr~ot'with F. J. McGuire for restoration of pavemen~ in street car track areas, will be completed after a few more days work so that it wi!lbe necessary to make final ~paymen~ on or about May 15th. Inasmuchas~this appropriation has to pass two Council meetings, in order to keep our contract, it is necessary that I make report at this time and .ask that _an appropriation of $6,145.X~ be made so that I may ~omplete payment for work done.
