November 12, 1930 <br /> <br />if the 0ity so desires, will undertake the work necessary in the pumping plant under the <br />general supervision of the _Superintendent of the Water Department. <br /> <br /> The above is as near amoutline as can be m~de. ina letter but, of course, you <br />understand that if the proposal is accepted a definite agreement will be drawn up covering <br />all of the pha~s of the proposal. <br /> <br />YOUrs very truly, <br /> <br /> R. Parker <br /> and Brother to begin the Work at as early a date as possible and complete it without un- <br /> necessary del~y.# <br /> <br /> Mr. Hutchins moved that the recommendation of the Manager be concurred in and that <br />the contract for razing the old frame school building ~orner Elm Avenue and Lincoln street <br />be awarded to C. L. Parker and Brothe~, upon the payment to the Oity of $86.00, as per his <br />~bid, provided said contractor give a bond to the City for $50.00 for the faithful carrying <br /> out of the contract. The motion was adopted. <br /> <br /> 3rd. ."I respectfully request that the petition of the Imperial Tobacco Compsmy, which <br /> was filed ~ith the City quit~e' a while ago, asking that the increased assessment of $~,O00.00 <br /> for the yea=s 1~2~, 1~2~ and 1930 be relieved from the books, be granted. Presented the following ordinance: <br /> Au OrdInanc~ of the Budget Appropriations <br />for the 0it2 of Portsmouth, Virginia, for the Year 1931. <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Brooks-, the ordinance was placed on its first reading. <br /> UNFINI~ED BUSINESS <br /> <br /> A report was received from the City Olerk & Auditor stating that he has examined the <br />Treasurer's report, reports from the various Banks, and the Accounting Department repo~t <br />for the month ended October 31, 1930; and find that they agree, with the following balances <br />on hand as of that date: <br /> <br />Water.
