Motion to award the contract to Fairbanks Scales. <br /> <br /> "The 1995/96 Capital Improvement Plan authorized continued <br />funding for operating Craney Island Landfill. Each year <br />approximately 27,000 tons of material are disposed at the <br />landfill through various city pro]ec=s and'the collection of <br />bulk refuse° The material disposed of at the landfill must be <br />weighed before disposal; howeverr the scales are inoperable due <br />to needed repairs. <br /> <br /> Bids have been received for the repairs and the results <br />are attached for your review. It is estimated that the repair <br />will total $11,498. The.Deputy City Manager has recommended <br />that the bid be awarded to Fairbank's Scales and that $14,000 <br />be appropriated to cover the bid and contingencies. <br /> <br /> I concur with this recommendation and requestan <br />appropriation in the amount of $14,000. With your approval of <br />this item, the balance in the Capital Improvements Fund will be <br />$2,978,253." <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Pitts, and seconded~by Mr. Clemons, to adopt <br />the following ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br /> "AN OP~DINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $14,000 FROM THE CAPITAL <br />IMPROVEMENTS FUND FOR REPAIR OF THE SCALES AT THE CITY'S <br />LANDFILL." <br /> <br />Ayes: Clemons, Griffin, Hawks, Martin, Pitts, Robinett, Webb <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Clemons, and seconded by Mr. Martin, to <br />award the contract to Fairbanks Scales, and was adopted by the <br />following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Clemons, Griffin, Hawks, Martin, Pitts, Robinett, Webb <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />95-500 Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of <br />a resolution to approve Amendment No. 26 (Crawford Urban <br />Renewal Plan), to approve Amendment No. 5 (Effingham <br />Conservation and Redevelopment Plan}, to approve Amendment No. <br />7 {Park View Conservation and Redevelopment Plan), to approve <br />the 1996 Action Plan and Citizens Participation Plan and an <br />ordinance to appropriate $3,449,000 in Community Development <br />Block Grant Funds, $400,000 in anticipated 1996 Program Income, <br />$828,000 in HOME Funds and $84,000 in Emergency Grant Program <br />Funds. <br /> <br /> A) Adoption of a resolution approving Amendment Number 26 <br />to the Crawford Urban Renewal Plan. This amendment designates <br />several additional properties as "To Be Acquired." <br /> <br /> B) Adoption of a resolution approving Amendment Number 5 <br />to the Effingham Conservation and Redevelopment Plan. This <br />amendment proposes to expand the project's northern and eastern <br />boundaries to include those properties located on the west side <br />of Seventh Street between Brighton and Randolph Streets. <br />Additionally, this amendment proposes to designate these and <br />other owner occupied properties located within the Abex site as <br />"To Be Acquired." Funding for these activities is provided by <br />the Abex Corporation in accordance with the agreement reached <br />between the City and Abex. <br /> <br /> C) Adoption of a resolution approving Amendment Number 7 <br />to the Park View Conservation and Redevelopment Plan. This <br />~unendment designates several additional properties as "To Be <br />Acquired." <br /> <br /> <br />
