November 28, 1995 <br />CITY MANAGER' S REPORT - <br /> <br />309 <br /> <br />95-523 - Letter from the City Manager ~eco~ending adoption~of <br />an ordinance to appropriate $437,270 for street improvements in <br />North Truxtun, and a motion to award the contract to North <br />Landing Line Construction Company. <br /> <br /> ',The 1994-99 Capital Improvement Plan includes funds for <br />street improvements in the North Truxtun area. Bids were <br />received on November 14, 1995 for the next phase of this <br />project, which includes improvements to Armistead Drive, Knox <br />Street, and Dahlia Street North. <br /> <br /> The bids were competitive and favorable with today's <br />construction market (see Attachment No. 1}. The total <br />anticipated project costs are as follows: <br /> <br />Construction Contract: <br /> {North Landing Line Construction Company) <br />Contract Administration and Inspection <br />Contingencies <br /> <br />TOTAL ANTICIPATED PROJECT COST <br />LESS PRIOR APPROPRIATIONS <br /> <br /> $424,770 <br /> $ 27,500 <br /> $ 30,000 <br /> <br /> $482,270 <br />-$ 45,000 <br /> <br />TOTAL APPROPRIATION REQUIRED <br /> <br />$437,27( <br /> <br /> The Director of Public Works recommends award of the <br />construction contract to the low bidder, North Landing Line <br />Construction Company, and an appropriation in the amount of <br />$437,270. Of the total appropriation, $388,778 will be funded <br />from the Capital Improvements Fund and $48,492 will be funded <br />from the Public Utility Capital Improvements Fund. <br /> <br /> I concur with the Director of Public Works and, with your <br />approval of this item, the balance an the Capital Improvements <br />Fund will be $2,603,475 and the balance in the Public Utility <br />Capital Improvements Fund will be $20,805,960." <br /> <br />Robert McCurdy, 3309 Armistead Dr~¥e, spoke in support of street <br />improvements appropriation. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Clemons, and seconded by Mr. Griffin, to <br />adopt the following ordinance, and was adopted by the following <br />vote: <br /> <br /> "AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $388,778 FROM THE CAPITAL <br />IMPROVEMENTS FUNDS AND $48,492 FROM THE PUBLIC UTILITIES CAPITAL <br />IMPROVEMENTS FUND FOR STREET IMPROVEMENTS IN THE NORTH TRUXTUN <br />AREA." <br /> <br />Ayes: Clemons, Griffin, Hawks, Martin, Robinett, Webb <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Hawks, and seconded by Mr. Griffin, to award <br />the construction contract to North Landing Line Construction <br />Company, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Clemons, Griffin, Hawks, Martin, Robinett, Webb <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />95-524 Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of <br />an ordinance to amend Section 12-143 of the City Code to expand <br />the Municipal Finance Commission's applicant ~ool to include <br />applicants from all areas of financial services. <br /> <br /> <br />
