November 28, 1995 CITY MANAGER' S REPORT - 309 95-523 - Letter from the City Manager ~eco~ending adoption~of an ordinance to appropriate $437,270 for street improvements in North Truxtun, and a motion to award the contract to North Landing Line Construction Company. ',The 1994-99 Capital Improvement Plan includes funds for street improvements in the North Truxtun area. Bids were received on November 14, 1995 for the next phase of this project, which includes improvements to Armistead Drive, Knox Street, and Dahlia Street North. The bids were competitive and favorable with today's construction market (see Attachment No. 1}. The total anticipated project costs are as follows: Construction Contract: {North Landing Line Construction Company) Contract Administration and Inspection Contingencies TOTAL ANTICIPATED PROJECT COST LESS PRIOR APPROPRIATIONS $424,770 $ 27,500 $ 30,000 $482,270 -$ 45,000 TOTAL APPROPRIATION REQUIRED $437,27( The Director of Public Works recommends award of the construction contract to the low bidder, North Landing Line Construction Company, and an appropriation in the amount of $437,270. Of the total appropriation, $388,778 will be funded from the Capital Improvements Fund and $48,492 will be funded from the Public Utility Capital Improvements Fund. I concur with the Director of Public Works and, with your approval of this item, the balance an the Capital Improvements Fund will be $2,603,475 and the balance in the Public Utility Capital Improvements Fund will be $20,805,960." Robert McCurdy, 3309 Armistead Dr~¥e, spoke in support of street improvements appropriation. Motion by Mr. Clemons, and seconded by Mr. Griffin, to adopt the following ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: "AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $388,778 FROM THE CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS FUNDS AND $48,492 FROM THE PUBLIC UTILITIES CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS FUND FOR STREET IMPROVEMENTS IN THE NORTH TRUXTUN AREA." Ayes: Clemons, Griffin, Hawks, Martin, Robinett, Webb Nays: None Motion by Mr. Hawks, and seconded by Mr. Griffin, to award the construction contract to North Landing Line Construction Company, and was adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Clemons, Griffin, Hawks, Martin, Robinett, Webb Nays: None 95-524 Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of an ordinance to amend Section 12-143 of the City Code to expand the Municipal Finance Commission's applicant ~ool to include applicants from all areas of financial services.
