<br /> The estimated receipts for 1~33 of $1,281,838.00 is $58,1~.00 less than
<br /> the budget ~stimats for 1932. The estim~te or request for general gover~nt expenses of
<br /> ~1,268,0~9.00 is $120,2~3.O9 less than the 1932 appropriation~ exclusive of debt service,
<br /> which shows an increase of $~4,46~.OO. The request for operating charges of the ~ater Depart-
<br /> ~ent of $318~2~.10 is $12,~O3.5~ les~ than the 1932 aoorooriation, and request for oaoital
<br /> expendz~ures of $125,O89.?2 zs $109,08~.?2 less than the 1~32 apprep~iation.
<br /> The reductions made last July ~ salaries~ etc. and the reductions made by
<br /> the so,els ~epresent ~ annual '-~ ~

<br /> FI have had several coherences with the attorneys representing the Crawford Es-
<br />tate in reference-to the taxes on 417-419-321 CoUnty St. The title to this property is badly
<br />tangled and unless somethir~ is done coneemning the property'it is liable to remain in its
<br />present status for some time. A sale of the property can be effected whereby the city will
<br />get at~least the principal ~ount of its taxes. I have made arrangements with the attorneys
<br />represe..,ing the~owners whereby they will co-operate with me to carry this sale into effect.
<br />I, therefore, request that I have the authority to institute a suit ~ chancery for the pur-
<br />pose of enforcing the city's lien of taxes upon the above described orbperty, causing a sale
<br />to be made thereof. -
