The City Manager presented the following amendment:

<br /> "YCE DISTRIBUTION',
<br /> Each person, firm or corporation engaged in the sale of ice and operating two
<br />or more wagons within the City, $151.OO; not pre-rated. This tax is in addition to the Vehicle
<br />Tax."
<br /> On motion of Mr. Fox, the same was adopted and by the following vote:
<br />
<br /> Ayes: Brooks, Fox, Hutchins, Mayo, Moore, Oast, Parrish - ?.
<br /> Nays: None.
<br />
<br /> The City Manager presented the following amendment in reference to laundmies~
<br /> "On every person engaged in the business of a power laundry, there shall be a
<br />license tax of $101.00 per annum, provided ~hat When any sush pgwer laundry employs not more
<br />than three persons, incIuding the owner, the said tax shall be $51.00 per annum; and on every
<br />person conducting a hand laundry, $51.00; in addition ~to the tax on capital invested. Not
<br />pro-rated. On every person, firm or corporation soliciting in the City of Portsmouth, laundry
<br />work to be done ou{side of the City, there shall be a license tax of $101.00 per annum, not
<br />pro-rated, in addition to the above, there shall be a tax of $12.00 on each branch office re-
<br />ceiving and delivering laundry."
<br /> On motion of Mr. Fox, same was adopted, and by the following vote:

<br /> Ayes: Brooks, Fox, Hutohins, Mayo, Moore, Oast, Parrish -
<br /> Nays: None.
<br />
<br /> The Oity Manager recommended that the section relating to sig~ painters be
<br /> amended to read:
<br />
<br /> · SIGN PAINTERS.
<br /> (a) Every person who shall furnish space .~nd paint, or who shall paint,
<br /> or otherwise place signs for rental purposes shall be construed' to be a~ advertising sign
<br /> painter and shall pay a license of $51.0~; Aot'pro-ra~ed. For the erection of any permanent
<br /> boards for such purpgs~, a permit shall be obtained from the City Man, ger.
<br /> (b) Each s~gn painter, sign letterer, card artist and commercial artist,
<br /> $26.00. Not pre-rated.
<br /> (c) Each person, firm or corporation engaged in the business of making,
<br /> selling or installing electrical or other signs, $51.00. Not pro-rated."

<br />On motion of Mr. Moore, same was adopted,
<br />

<br />and by the following vote:

<br />The 0ity Manager presented au amendment as follows:

<br /> "BUILDING MATERIALS ($EOOND HAND)
<br /> Each person, firm or co~rporation engaged in the business of buying and
<br />selling second-hand building materials, $?~.00..
<br /> Any person licensed under this section shall not purchase any 'second hand
<br />~uilding materials of any description until the person selling the ~ame'shall have first ob-
<br />tained a permit from the 0hief of Police 'setting forth his ownership thereof and amthorizing
<br />him to make such sale."
