January 23, 1996 <br /> <br /> A. Ordinance to appropriate $128,322 from the Capital <br />Improvements Fund for drainage improvements in West Park View. <br />This project will improve drainage and alleviate flooding <br />problems in parts of West Park View that were created when <br />improper discharges of stormwater runoff to the sanitary sewer <br />were identified and disconnected. <br /> <br /> B. Motion to award a construction contract to Art-Ray <br />Corporation. <br /> <br /> "The 1994-99 Capital Improvement Plan includes funds for <br />Miscellaneous Drainage Improvements, from which will be funded <br />drainage improvements in the West Park View neigb_borhood. Bids <br />were received on January 9, 1996 for this projeot, including <br />drainage improvements to Williamsburg Avenue, Ann Street, "A" <br />Street, and Bain Street. <br /> <br /> The bids were competitive and favorable with today's <br />construction market (see Attackment No. 1). The total <br />anticipated project costs are as follows: <br /> <br />Construction Contract (Art-Ray Corporation) <br />Public Utilities <br />Contract Administration and Inspection <br />Contingencies <br />Future Miscellaneous Drainage Improved~ents <br /> <br />$ 81,434 <br />$ 6,000 <br />$ 8,866 <br />$ 16,000 <br />$ 16,022 <br /> <br />TOTAL ANTICIPATED PROJECT COST <br /> <br />$128,322 <br /> <br /> The Director of Public Works recommends award of the <br />construction contract to the low bidder, Art-Ray Corporation, <br />in the amount of $81,434 and requests an appropriation in the <br />a~ount of $128,322 from the Capital Improvements Fund to <br />complete this pro3ect. <br /> <br /> I concur with the Director of Public Works and, with your <br />approval of this item, the balance mn the Capital Improvements <br />Fund will be $628,126." <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Pitts, and seconded by Mr. Martin, to adopt <br />the following ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br /> ..AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $128,322.00 FROM THE CAPITAL <br />IMPROVEMENTS FUND FOR COMPLETION OF DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENTS TO <br />WILLIANEBURG AVENUE, ANN STREET, "A" STREET AND BAIN STREET." <br /> <br /> Ayes: Clemons, Griffin, Hawks, Martin, Pitts, Robinett, Webb <br /> Nays: None <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Clemons, and seconded by Mr. Hawks, to award <br />the construction contract to Art-Ray Corporation, and was <br /> adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br /> Ayes: Clemons, Griffin, Hawks, Martin, Pitts, Robinett, Webb <br /> Nays: None <br /> <br /> 96-29 Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of <br /> an ordinance to appropriate $111,200 from the Public Utilities <br /> Capital Improvements Fund for the final design of the Phase III <br /> Lake Kilby Water Plant project. <br /> <br /> "Due to changes in the original scope and unexpected soil <br /> conditions at the Lake Kilby Water Plant, the fee for the final <br /> design of the Phase III project will increase. This additional <br /> engineering fee of $136,200 is based on the best available <br /> information, and no other changes are anticipated. <br /> <br /> <br />
