January 23, 1996 <br /> <br /> The major changes in the scope of the project resulted from <br />coa~LLents generated by the Virginia Department of Health which <br />will require extensive filter modifications. The Health <br />Department indicates that these changes are needed because of <br />increased awareness of Cryptosporidium and Giardia. <br /> <br /> The Director of Public Utilities has identified $25,000 of <br />previously appropriated funds for use and requests an additional <br />appropriation of $111,200 for this effort. This work is part of <br />the voter approved Public Utilities Bond Referenduma. <br /> <br /> I concur with the recommendation of the Director of Public <br />Utilities, and with your approval of this item, the balance mn <br />the Public Utilities Capital Improvements fund will be <br />$20,694,760." <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Griffin, and seconded by Mr. Clemons, to <br />adopt the following ordinance, and was adopted by the following <br />vote: <br /> <br /> "A~; ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $111,200.00 FROM THE PUBLIC <br />UTILITIES CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS FUND FOR THE LAKE KILB¥ PHASE III <br />DESIGN PROJECT." <br /> <br />Ayes: Clemons, Griffin, Hawks, Martin, Pitts, Robinett, Webb <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />96-30 Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of an <br />ordinance to appropriate $40,000 from the Capital Improvements <br />Fund for improvements to Cedar Lane. <br /> <br /> "The 1994-99 Capital Improvement Plan included matching <br />funds for improvements to Cedar Lane. Cedar Lane is in the <br />Virginia Department of Transportation's Six Year Plan, and the <br />improvements will be made utilizing urban funds. As you are <br />aware, the project Ks in the process of being redesigned as a <br />three lane road to meet the concerns of citizens. To provide <br />additional matching funds for the design phase of this project, <br />an appropriation in the amount of $40,000 from the Capital <br />Improvements Fund is requested. The City's total matching funds <br />including construction costs are estimated at $140,000. <br /> <br /> The Director of Public Works recommends an appropriation in <br />the amount of $40,000. I concur, and with your approval of this <br />item, the balance in the Capital Improvements Fund will be <br />$588,126." <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Clemons, and seconded by Mr. Pitts, to adopt <br />the following ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br /> "AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $40,000.00 IN MATCHING FUNDS <br />FROM THE CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS FUND FOR IMPROVEMENTS TO CEDAR <br />LANE." <br /> <br />Ayes: Clemons, Griffin, Hawks, Martin, Pitts, Robinett, Webb <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />96-31 Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of a <br />resolution supporting the use of tolls for the Pinners Point <br />Connector. <br /> <br /> <br />
