388 <br /> <br />February 27~ 1996 <br /> <br /> "The 199&-99 Capital Improvement Plan includes funds for <br />drainage improve~ents on Cavalier Boulevard. Bids were <br />received on February 13, 1996 for this project which includes <br />piping and closing in the existing ditches in the median from <br />Greenwood Drive to the City limits. <br /> <br /> The bids were competitive and favorable with today's <br />construction market (see Attacb-~ent No. 1). The total <br />anticipated project costs are as follows: <br /> <br />Construction Contract (Art-Ray Corporation) $811,133 <br />Contract Aclminlstration and Inspection $ 30,000 <br />Contingencies $ 58,867 <br /> <br />TOTAL ANTICIPATED PROJECT COST <br /> <br />$900,000 <br /> <br /> The Director of Pu~blic Works recommends award of the <br />construction contract to the low bidder, Art-Ray Corporation, <br />and an appropriation in the amount of $900,000. Of the <br />$900,000, $720,000 will be funded from General Obligation <br />Bonds and $180,000 will be a transfer from the Stormwater <br />Management Utility Fund. <br /> <br /> I concur with the Director of Public Works and, with <br />your approval of this item, the remaining balance of bonds <br />authorized, but not yet appropriated will be $2,851,410." <br /> <br />ViVian Curry, 1328 Roosevelt Boulevard, spoke in support of <br />the funding for drainage improvements. <br /> <br />Elijah Sharp, 702 Hancock Avenue, spoke in support of the <br />funding for drainage improvements. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Robinett, and seconded by Mr. Clemons, to <br />adopt the following ordinance, and was adopted by the <br />following vote: <br /> <br /> "AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $900,000.00 FROM TEE <br />CAPITAL IMPROVEMEMTS FUND FOR DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENTS TO <br />CAVALIER BOULEVARD" <br /> <br />Ayes: Clemons, Hawks, Martin, Pitts, Robinett, Webb <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Roblnett, and seconded by Mr. Hawks, to <br />award a construction contract to Art-Ray Corporation for <br />drainage improvements, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Clemons, Hawks, Martin, Pitts, Robinett, Webb <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />96-77- Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of <br />an ordinance to appropriate $200,336 from the Public <br />Utilities Capital Improvements Fund to rehabilitate and <br />replace portions of the City's water and sewer <br />infrastructure. <br /> <br /> "As part of the City's Vision 2005 Plan, the parcel <br />bounded by the 600 block of London Boulevard and Queen Street <br />and the 400 block of Washington and Green Streets is being <br />redeveloped. This project brings together the City, PR~A and <br />private o~rners in a positive public-private enterprise. <br /> <br /> <br />
