Pearson~and Joseph C. Smith were elected members of the Industrial Commission from~tHe <br />Board of Supervisors. <br /> All voting Yes:~ <br /> A COPY, <br /> <br />TESTE: V.Co R~ndall, Clerk <br />By A.W. Shirley Hop. e, State Game Wa~-~len, for destroying 11~ dogs at $2.50 <br />each, amounting to $285.00, was received and, on motion of Mr. Hut6hins, the Treasurer was <br />authorized to pay same from funds in her hands from Collection~ of DOg Taxes. <br /> <br />The following letter was read: <br /> <br /> "! wish to thank you for your wonderful cooperation in assisting in entertain- <br />ing the Congressmen, ex-Congressmen and other National figures tha~ attended the Second An - <br />nual Loyalty Celebration in honor-of the Veterans~ friends in Congress. <br /> The par~ played by your Committee in welcoming the invited guests to Ports- <br />mouth was a great help to the celebration and a help to POrtsmouth, and no doubt will cause <br />Portsmouth to get ~several million dollars worth of future appr~priations from Congress, in <br />fact, I heard one of the Senior members of a Congressional Committee tell our Congressman be- <br />fore he left Portsmouth that he would see that his Committee repo~ed out favorable .one or <br />two appropriations that you needed in Portzmouth. <br /> Enclosed find a copy of this year~$ program, including the names participat~ <br />lng so ~hatyou may file it with the minutes of your nex~ meeting for future reference. <br /> With the cooperation of some of my friends in Congress and ~he wonderful co~ <br />operation your Ci%y Manager and other officials are giving, I am hoping to get a steel plant <br />for Portsmouth either financed by the Government or by steel in~ereSts. <br /> Again thanking you for your efforts in up-building Portsmouth, I am, <br /> <br />Respectfully yours, <br /> <br />(Signed) W.B.
