<br />Virginia, that the City Nanage~ of this 01ty is hereby autho-
<br />rlzed smd directed to~ immediately notify the Hampton Roads
<br />Sanitation Commission, or the members of such commission ap -
<br />pointed for the Hampton Roads Sanitation District, that it is
<br />the intention of the City of Portsmouth to withdraw from the
<br />Hampton Roads Sanitation District, and that if a 'sewage disposal
<br />system/sufficient to prevent the pollution of any~ of the tidal
<br />waters of Be Hampton~Roads Sanitation District from industrial
<br />waste~an& sewage arising in or discharged from the City of
<br />Portsmouth."

<br />~On motion of Mr. Fox, said resolution was adopted, and by the following vote:

<br />The City Manager presented the following ordinance:

<br /> SIMILAR DEViCE~HIOH EXHIBITS OBSCENE OR INDECEh~ PICTUBES"

<br /> Notion of Mr. Howard to suspend ~he rule~ and place the Ordinance on its final
<br />passage at this time, was adopted.
<br />
<br />Motion of Mr. Wilson to amend by requiring a bond of $1,O00. was lost.

<br />On motion of Mr. Howard, said ordinance was adopted, and by the following vote:

<br /> The Committee to whom the above ordinance w~s referred, recom~ended that the
<br />specific tax be made $26.00, and an additional tax of six per cent on the rentzl value of
<br />the pla~e ef business.

<br />ordinance was ~dopted, as amended, and by the following vote:

<br />dinance be amended to read as follows:

<br /> where the admission is not over-twenty cents, there shall be
<br /> a specific tax of $251.00, plus fifty cents for each seat.
<br /> On each moving picture show or v~udeville~orbotheombined,
<br />~where the admission is overl~enty cents, there shall be a
<br />specific tax of $426.00 plus fifty centa for each seat."
<br /> Where the seating capacity is less than 250, one-half of the
<br /> above specific tax shall apply, plus fifty cents for each seat."
