At the tLme, I had not received my registration card f.romthe motor vehicle department of the State. I received the card this day w~hich shows the automobile to weigh ~496 po'~uds. The City tax should have been $8. O0 on this size car. t respectfully request to be refunded ~2.00 on the license and ~o!O on the penalty. The Car is a 193~ Ford Coupe. The following letter was read, and on motion of Mr. Hutchins, the inclosed resolution was approved, subject to the City Attorney's apl~roval: "I am accompanying tD~e letter with "A Resolution to Approve the Application by the Virginia Electric & Power Company to the State Corporation Commission og Virginia for a Certificate of Public Oonvenience and necessity to Ooerate a Transportation Service between the corners of High and Crawford Streets in Portsmouth, Virginia, and New Gosport, Cradcck Gardens, aud Navy Yard Housing Site No~ 2 in Norfolk County.~ Briefly, this,is ~u additional bus line to serve the new housi~ developments around Cradock and inasmuch as the routs will be over the same streets within the City now used by the Cradock line, from a legal st~u~oint ~he ~oproval of the Council is probably not neces~ sary, but we believe such ~oproval ~ll evidence a desire on the pagt of the Council to co-oper- ate in oroperly servicing the new growth in Portsmouth and environs and will be helpful to the Commission in their consideration of our application.
