<br /> 8th - "The United States Government is preparing tone, eot.two housing
<br />units near the southwest limits o~ ~he City, which will be built to accommodateI between fif-
<br />teen and twenty thousand inhabitants. Itwill be necessary for the City to supply water to
<br />the two projects, and it will possibly be to the City's advantage, from ahealth standpoint,
<br />to provide for the disposition of the sanitary sewage.
<br /> I respectfully reques~ permission for the City Manager of Ports-
<br />mouth to apply to the proper Federal agency for grants for the follox¢ing projects:
<br /> 1. For the installation of necessary pipe lines, storage
<br /> tanks, machinery and other equipment for supplying water
<br /> to the two Government projects designated as D and E, to
<br /> be constructed near Gosport Road.
<br /> 2. For the installation of necessar~v pipe lines, pumping
<br /> equipment and machinery to convey the sewage from the
<br /> two projects designated as D and E to be constructed
<br /> near Gosport Road, and for the installation of an anti-
<br /> pollution plant in the northern section of the City,
<br /> probably at Pinners Pdnt, for the treatment of the
<br /> sewage from the above projects in those sections of the
<br /> City whioh will be served by the Douglas Ave. pumping
<br /> station.
<br /> It will be necessary for the City to enter into suitable contracts
<br />if it is found necessary to furnish the above service."

<br />tion to the ~ity 0ouMeil r~questing a relief of taxes on property at 815 First Avenue.
<br /> ~ I fin~, from the records of the Fire DePartment, ~fmat the building at
<br />815 First Ave. was destroyed by fire on November 24th, 1935, continued on the land book but,
<br />for some reason, was removed in 193~ and pg~ back in 1939. Taxes charged against the build-
<br />ing for tbs tears !936, '37, ~39, '40 and ~1, amounti~ to $?.50 for each year, should be
<br />relieved. ~his property is assessed to P.A. Cotton."
