The following letter, laid on table at last meeting, was taken up: "Please make a~ appropriation of $34,500. for the new incinerator. The Federal Government has apportioned $80,5?0. for this purpose." ~otion of Mr. Fox to appropriate $3&,5OO. for said purpose, was adopted, and by the following vote: Ayes: Lelgh, ~ox, Grimes, Hall, Howard, Hutchlns, Lawrence, Nays~ None ~arren, ~llson. The report of the Accounting Department for the month of March was re - ceived and ordered filed, The following letter f~om the City Attorney was read: "Mr. Amos G. _Crawford purchased a house and'eight (8) lots of land at the corner ~of Eighth and Madison Sts,~ from Thcs, R, Goodman and he is requesting that certain taxes against Mr. Goodman be relieved as improperly assessed. Mr. Goodman was unable to pay the taxes beeauseof improper assessments. I have examined the records and find that the three (3) lots fronting on the north side of Madison Street are properly assessed and ~hat there is no question about the taxes due on ~hese lets. Hr. Goodman owned five (5) lots fronting on Eighth Street and he is as- sessed with seven (~) lots. In 1933, one l~t known as 1017 Eighth St. was transferred from Haywood 0hetty's estate to A. H. Goodman by mistake and it was improperly assessed to A. H. Goodman for 1933, Thomas R. Goodman from 193~ through 19~1 and to Amos G. Goodman by mistake. This lot was originally assessed to James Grimes estate and should not have been transferred to Goodm~u. The lot was sold by James Grimes to James M.Butt, who in turn sold it ~o Charles Willis and it has also been assessed to Charles Wll!ey and the taxes charged in the 0ity Oollector,'s office to James Gri~es estate from 1~15 to 193& and Thom-i as R.
