<br />Portsmouth colored library, which is expected robe located near the corner of Effingham and
<br />South ets. Mr. ~orge Van Leeuwen, the architect, has advised me that
<br /> ca~ be constructed for $~,32Y.?1. It may be necessary to make some slight alter-
<br /> building
<br />~tions in the present diagram. However, this appears to be the general plan.
<br /> The building will be brick-finish; it will have spacious
<br />dows-with draft ventilators, d~uble-doors with a vestibule and storm door, with approximately
<br />900 square feet in the library. There-is also concealed lighting, a store room, two lavatories
<br />and a concrete floor with a compositidn ~ile finish.
<br /> It is my recommendation that an appropriation of $10,OO0.O0
<br />be made to construc~ this library, subject to t he War ~roduction Board, s regulations."
<br /> Motion of Nr. Fox to place an ~Opropriztion of $10,OOO.OO for said
<br />purpose on its first reading, was adopted.

<br />have agreed to assist i~ defraying/the cost of a~permanent ~ild C~re Center for two-thirds of
<br />the cost not to exceed $20,000.00 with the City zurnishing ~ne lan~. ·
<br /> ~ ' ' Obviously, none of us a~e impressed ~ith the type of temporary
<br /> building the Government has-placed Within this area. Therefore, my recommendation is to adopt
<br /> the attached resolution."

<br /> of Portsmouth, in the furtherance of-the ~ar effort, is great,

<br /> WHEREAS, the Federal Government has assured the City
<br /> Of its willingness ~o assist in the construction of a permanent
<br /> building up to two-thirds of~its cost, not to exceed ~O,O00.00,
<br /> with the City furnishing the necessary land,
<br /> BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Ports-
<br /> mouth s:athorize the City Nanager to oroceed with negotiations
<br /> fora:he construction of a permanent Child Care Center, the
