Grobb, Secretary." <br /> 19th - Mr. Fox presented the following resolution: <br /> <br /> "~HEREAS, Senate Bill No. 85 proyides for ageneral <br />survey to deform%ne the matter of construction of a tunsel be- <br />tween Norfolk ane Portsmouth and further provides that $100,000.00 <br />for making the survey to be paid out of funds allocated to the <br />~uffolk District of the Virginia Highway, - <br /> <br /> AND WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Portsmouth is <br />of theopinion that a comprehensive survey ~ehould be made but does <br />not feel Shat the funds for doing such work shoul~ be taken f~om <br />the Suffolk District exclusively, <br /> NOW THEBEFORE BE IT RESOLVED that this 0ouncil of the <br />C~ty of Portsmouth reguests its members of the Legislature to <br />oppose Senate Bill No. 85 insofar as the entire cost of the <br />Survey willbe charged against the Suffolk District Highway <br />Funds and request that they endeavor to have an amendment trans- <br />ferring such funds as may be necessary from the general Highway <br />Funds for the entire Sta~e~ <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution <br />be sent to the City of Norfolk, City of Suffolk, City'of South <br />Norfolk, City of Virginia Beach and to t he Supervisors of the <br />Counties of Nansemond, Princess Anne, Norfolk, Isle of Wi&hr <br />and Southampton." <br /> <br />On motion of Mr. Fox, said resolution was adopted. <br /> <br />first reading: <br /> <br />On motion of 2r.
