May llth, 19457 SOn Wednesday, ~oril 25th~ 1945, bids were received fer the construction of Divisions DA, DB and DC of the Additions ~o the Portsmou'th Sa~itary 8eweraEe System. A mary of bids is attached hereto~ Two bids were received for Division DA~ five for Division DB and four for Divi~on DC~ Divisio~A comprised the 48 inch force main from Armstrong and County Stsc to Pinners Point; Division DB the 36-inch force main on ~e$1ey Street; and Division DC the inch~ 30~inch~ 36~inch and 4~inch force main from the several pumping sta~ion~ at Glasgow Street, Race Street and 0~mden Avenue ~o connect to the 48~inch force main of Divi~iO~n DA On all divisions prices were solicited for both cas~ iron pipe and for reinforoed concrete pipe~ There were no bids for cas~ iron ~ n Division D~ ~ud only one bid each in Divisions DB ~ud DC. For Division DB the proposal based on reinforced concrete pice was ~ll~800.O0 less ~han the proposal of the same contractor based on cast iron pipe, and for Division DC the corresponding difference was ~43~492~20~ The bid for concrete oip~ $48,56y.O0 less ~h~u the only bid received for cast iron pipe for Division DB and ~53,116o00 for Division DC. The estimated difference for Division DA is about $150,OO0. or the total dif-I ference between cas~ iron pipe ~ud reinforced concrete pipe for the t~ee divisions is abou~ ~200~000oOO~ The low combination of bids for the work is as follows: Division DA ~ A~ Stanle~ Mundy Company Division DB ~ A~G. Pinkston & Company D~vision DC A~ o~anley Mundy Company Total The goove proposMls are based on reinforced concrete pipe. Neither of these con~ractors submitted a proposal for cast iron pipe. ~ It is recommended that the low bid of A~ ~t~uley Mundy Company be accepted for DiVisions DA and DC and 0f A.G. Pinkston & Company for Division DB. Division DA~ BB and DC constitute major sections of the total Portsmouth project.
