Motion of Mr. Grimes to place an. appropriation of $6,~O0.00 for said <br />purpose, on its first reading, was adopted. <br /> <br />5th - "The following letter has been received from the Federal Works <br /> <br />Agency: <br /> <br /> 'This is in further reference to your applications, Nos. <br />~-37~ and ~-375, for Federal Assistance in the construc- <br />tion of recreational facilities for service men and civi- <br />lian war workers in Portsmouth. <br /> After careful consideration of the data available, it is <br />not believed that failure to provide these recreation facili- <br />ties at this time will impede the war effort.
