Motion of Mr. Grimes to place an. appropriation of $6,~O0.00 for said purpose, on its first reading, was adopted. 5th - "The following letter has been received from the Federal Works Agency: 'This is in further reference to your applications, Nos. ~-37~ and ~-375, for Federal Assistance in the construc- tion of recreational facilities for service men and civi- lian war workers in Portsmouth. After careful consideration of the data available, it is not believed that failure to provide these recreation facili- ties at this time will impede the war effort.
