Dear Sir:
During our recent conference of Pebruary ~4, 1947, at yo'~m
office, regard/rig a contract b~tween the City of Portsmouth and the Vir-
ginia Electric s~d Power Company, certain facts were discussed concerning
the contract.
Copies of a proposed contract between the parties for a ten
year period were left with you. As I recall, you were of the opinion that
th~ City would be' interested in a one ream contract ~ud that this would be
youm recommendation to C~uncil at its regular meeting of March lith. ~e
think it very desirable-that this matter be taken up by Council at the
earliest possible date, since you wz±l recall that the ex~enszono f ninety
days which was granted by the Co~%oany t o the terms of the old contract
expires March ~st, 1947.
For your i~o~ation, we have tarn actu~ meter ~ea~ngs
~d n~bem of s~eet li~ts, ~d other City services served the City rom
the month of J~uamy, 1947, s~d applied our re~lar Co~srcial ~ates
which ~ll apply in the event the City e leers to purchase electricity
a yeemly basis. Res'~ts indicate that it would ~ve cost the City of
Portsmonth ~2,546. V~ more for that p~ti~l~ month, or ~pro~mately
$30,S6!.2~ more per y~ t~n would ~ the ease -~dor the proposed ten-
year contract.
Yours very
