4O <br /> <br />~i] 12th. 1949 <br /> <br />~A,~ERRA$, by reason of the unexpected maintenance of a high <br />population figure ha the area complicated further by the <br />veter~s housing problem; and <br />WHF~MW~S, it now appears that all of the approximately 750 <br />units remaining in active status in Douglas Park will be <br />required as a part 'of the pe~anent post-war housing supply <br />in the area. <br />BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Fortsmouth <br />indicate their v~llingness to release the Public Housing <br />Ad~nistration from its commitment to remove the units in <br />Douglas Park if the project c~u be improved to assure the <br />development of a single small-house character with an a ccept- <br />able site plan to be approved by the Council; provided, too <br />t~at the exterior of the units particularly their present <br />founaa~zons, be~zmproved zua ccordance wzth plans ~o be ap <br />proved by the Council so that the houses may be sold to <br />individual vetera~.s for their cyan occupancy, and provided <br />further, that the project shall besold in its entirety to <br />the Portsmouth-Norfolk County Veterans Housing C orp0ration. <br /> <br />On motion of Mr. Howard, said resolution was adopted, and by the fol <br /> <br />lowing vote: <br /> <br /> - <br />Ayes: Fox, <br /> Howard, Weisems~ <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> Gri~es~ ~enderso~ Houghton, <br />kWarre~, ~iISOn ~Stu~tevant not voting) <br /> <br /> 3rd - ~ne following letter from G.
