BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Fortsmouth indicate their v~llingness to release the Public Housing Ad~nistration from its commitment to remove the units in Douglas Park if the project c~u be improved to assure the development of a single small-house character with an a ccept- able site plan to be approved by the Council; provided, too t~at the exterior of the units particularly their present founaa~zons, be~zmproved zua ccordance wzth plans ~o be ap proved by the Council so that the houses may be sold to individual vetera~.s for their cyan occupancy, and provided further, that the project shall besold in its entirety to the Portsmouth-Norfolk County Veterans Housing C orp0ration. The gbove arrangement has proven satisfactory and in addition to ship~img our products to C~.rlott~sville we ~cover Winchester ~d L~ay and practic~ ly ~l to~s ~d cities between those points and ~Yaskington, in addition to most Virginia to~s on the Eastern Shore as far south a s Cape Charles. ~e establishment of a distributing plant in Portsmouth would the emplo~nt of local peopl~ as ~ell as the p~chase or ~leasing of suitable property. It would not be the intention of t~s dairy to~md products ~to the area w~ch would ~ders~ll the present market as all of our i~ems a re pre~ products ~d in most cas~s sell at a hi,er price than the loc~ products. We feel c~tain that the issuance of t~s permit.would do much to raise the quality of all ~iry products in your area ~d therefore request that we be grated pe~ission to distribute ~hestnut Fa~s Sealtest ~i~ Pro~cts in the City of Portsmouth.
